when I was younger  the forests where a lot bigger , Major Oak is still standing  after all these hundreds of years although it has  help now to keep standing tall and proud,
but around   where I live theres  quite a few historical places to  visit
if you google and type in Hardwick Hall,,,,,  Newstead abbey,,,
a lot of people just visit  London  when really  theres  beautiful places here in  Wales  and well Scotland has many  many castles  and the scenery is spectacular

I feel inspired to respond, and I know who the hooded man is! I had such a huge crush on him in my teen years.. , it is Robin, is it not? But in particular hooded man was a song by Clannad to accompany the Robin of Sherwood series starring Michael Praed, who later went over to the states to star in dynasty or dallas, I forget which. 

Having been to Nottingham I was very sad to see that little remains of Sherwood.  But that said, the Great Oak is a wonderful place.  You can sit there with a sense of times gone past for a long time.  Or  just a sense of time.  Like many old places in Britain, it seems as if the past isnt far away sometimes.

I apologise for the digress.

yes I agree it is sad  to see how much is left now of sherwood forest

but did you not visit  the local areas as well , Hardwick Hall was owned by bess of Hardwick

Everybody knows there is no such thing as a flying pig, unless you count the pieces in a butchershop.  Anyways on to the magical pillows,  I was given these handmade down filled pillows that are huge and you talk about something comfortable to relax into...

Just teasing a bit, it would seem this topic has gone around a few corners, way past left field, and is somewhere in Sherwood forrest now.

my sister constantly sends me 'flying pigs' , i now have socks, shirts, tree ornaments, stuffed and pictures of pigs with wings. All because years ago i stupidly stated 'oh that will happen when pigs fly' and of course IT happened!!

i think it is her odd way of saying i told you so !!

older sisters can be the bane of your existance!!
