While the M-B isn't always dead on, it can be a valuable tool in a job search or even an honest look at relationships. Scientific? Some say yes, some no, but it is often accurate if honest answers are given.

Let put in here my opinion of Myers-Briggs and any of the many other so-called psychological tests. They are pure bull shit. Yes, i took several times the M-B and turn out to be on the cusp between several categories. To term this and the other tests "science" is an oxymoron. These tests are as valid as astrology, another pseudoscience. i refuse to let some test or some psychologist to put me in a box. i am an individual. i do not care what my M-B type is because it is totally meaningless and irrelevant.
Maybe the M-B is more accurate for people who do not venture to act "outside" of "their type", either because they've been very happy or successful acting as "their type", or for some other reason.

Personally, I spent a long part of my early adulthood trying to figure out who I really was. I tried a lot of different stuff, and I figured out that most of what we believe about ourselves is just something that somebody told us when we were small and impressionable.

Never the less has the M-B discussion created 9 pages of ... if we use your words totally meaningless and irrelevant bullshit.  Surely are you not forgetting the entertainment value and discussion points?

To all:  Yes, Sadomasokristi, i do not discount the "entertainment" value of this thread.  But, after reading though 7½ pages of it, i became incensed (as is apparent from my post) by the fawning over this test and what people think they are based upon the results of the test.  This runs contrary to my normally rather easy-going demeanor.  However, i do have my "buttons", so to speak.  Touch them, and my ire is raised.  i also object to Human Resource "professionals" in industry who have a blind belief in these tests.  That strikes me as failing to use or trust one's judgment about a person.  It is much easier to cite some test score and put them in a box.

Here is my primary objection to M-B and associated similar tests.  The continuum of human behaviors is determined by influences (and in many cases genetics) that exists in a space of n-dimensions.  M-B, for example, attempts to reduce that to a 4-dimensional space.

Let me correct that last statement.  An 8-dimensional space.  Same comment still applies.

As noted in post 135 of this thread, at the moment, I'm the lone Collarme ESTP (the adventurer, or doer) ...

Since I'm an ESTP, that might explain why I'm into the pleasure of the sub so very much.

And maybe even why it's so hard to find that special someone, who enjoys being a good service submissive, and who enjoys the tremendous attention I lavish upon her, and who enjoys being funished with a nipple tweak or a light slap on her pussy, as needed. Even the funishment should be pleasurable for the sub. The whole thing is about mutual together pleasure, albeit with a twist of kink. Sigh.

Let me correct that last statement.  An 8-dimensional space.

Let me modify that last statement, an 8-dimensional space, with infinite variety between, forming a unifying curve of humanity, from which there are obvious and distinct personalities, out of which you can cluster the datapoints into four main categories with more than a score of major sub categories, into which almost the whole of humanity fits, AND WHICH CAN BE SCIENTIFICALLY/STATISTICALLY MEASURED & REPRODUCED (but never perfectly).

Realize that Myers-Briggs can be tested. There are many ways to test it. For example, take a population of 100 students, form a double-blind test where you randomly hand them profile descriptions, and have them rate how well they pertain to them. This is so easy to test, and MB has withstood the scientific tests for half a century, that I find it hard for anyone to say that it has little merit.

Is it perfect? Hell no. Is it a good "tool" for understanding people, their motives, and, in this case, why they are the kink they are? You betcha!

Here's mine, for example, written out only because nobody else (yet anyway) claims to be what I seem to be (do I not belong here? :) ...
ESTPs don’t worry – they're happy! ESTPs are typically charming, friendly, spontaneous, playful, and easy going people with great powers of observation and the ability to live completely "in the moment". They like to talk about what is real and concrete (their experiences, facts, current events, sports, etc.). ESTPs work well under pressure and are comfortable making last minute decisions. They can be good negotiators and tough, logical decision makers when necessary. Realistic and pragmatic, ESTPs tend to speak directly and clearly, responding best to people who are down-to-earth. Friendly and charming, ESTPs are popular and at ease in most social situations. They are outgoing, versatile, and funny and may have an endless supply of jokes and stories for whatever situation they find themselves in. ESTPs Tend To Be:

• Highly energetic, charismatic & enthusiastic
• Able to adapt well to change & shift gears quickly
• Naturally persuasive; great at building consensus
• Keen observers; excellent memory for factual information & who said what
• Fun, approachable & able to instantly build rapport with most people
• Able to perform exceptionally well both under pressure & with little preparation

Career Satisfiers
All people are most satisfied and successful when using their natural talents in an environment that is consistent with their personality preferences and values. Research shows that ESTPs are most satisfied by jobs that provide the following:

• The opportunity to interact spontaneously with fun, interesting people
• A great variety in the tasks they perform daily; opportunities to be surprised
• Work that does not involve excessive amounts of working alone or reading
• The opportunity to quickly respond to new & challenging situations or crisis
• Time to informally socialize with co-workers, clients, etc.

I know why it is that way, But I also expet curtesy and respect back from other's unless they really want to meet the Ugly monster of my feelings. Then it'sd just emotionally ruled.
IU think though as people go through the years and have emotional help, On sometimes it can change, I haven't though in the 10 yrs since I took this last.
Sub I am not, But was raised to be the Polite and Curteous person by my Many families, as well as I still hear tat being polite speech in my head from My one Grandmother from when I was 7.

I am an ENTP yet super submissive with fantasies of being feminized. Is it because I tend to have professional roles that involve/leverage these traits so heavily that my personal life seems to prefer the total opposite? My personal interest in being submissive tends to crash into my personality and nature which is outspoken, extroverted and spontaneous. How does one live as a good submissive when the mechanics that come instinctively are so counterintuitive?

I've only taken the test online, and rated as an INTP, but it seems fairly on point for me.  I do like my alone time and even fantasize about being locked away, confined, abandoned.

As for the Enneagram, I have taken that test a few times and am a solid #9 - Mediator.

In my experience, one can use this information as an excuse or hindrance or can use it to assist in observation and modification of behaviours.  By looking at one's own actions under stress in retrospect, personality types may help to uncover feelings, motivations and coping mechanisms for acknowledgment and perhaps adjustment or correction.

Alternatively, it can just be fun to identify with a group in any kind of classification exercise like this (Yea INTP's and 9's out there!!).

yours

Hmm, I still need a signature.

Depending on where my head is at the time of the test I either come out INTJ, ESTJ or ENTJ. In my professional life I am seen as the Dominant, the one people look to for instructions when something goes wrong. However, I am a submissive with very very rare switch tendencies. Whether my submissiveness is an escape from the Dominant role I play all day or it is my attempt at better understanding the D/s dynamic I don't know. I do believe strongly that you cannot understand the role control plays until you can completely control and completely surrender control.

I got a bit bored so decided to retake the test on Alt.. I'm an ISFP.. Gentle Artist... guess it kind of fits me, but not sure how well. I've taken this test a  few other times through out my life and this is generally the catigory I end up in. *snickers* probably for good reason.

INTJ (22,50,38,67) here.  "The Mastermind" type.  One who approaches life as like a giant chessboard, with structures and procedures that are never arbitrary but not set in stone either.

Oddly enough the description of Masterminds says that we are "not eager to take command until others demonstrate their inability to lead".  Still pondering THAT vis-a-vis my being a Dominant.

I came out as INFJ, but sometimes I find those forced choice questions difficult, and I tend answer on impulse..
'This part of the description though seemed dead-on to me:
INFJs are deeply concerned about their relations with individuals as well as the state of humanity at large. They are, in fact, sometimes mistaken for extroverts because they appear so outgoing and are so genuinely interested in people -- a product of the Feeling function they most readily show to the world. On the contrary, INFJs are true introverts, who can only be emotionally intimate and fulfilled with a chosen few from among their long-term friends, family, or obvious "soul mates."
My co-workers would say I am very outgoing, and I care deeply about others, but it is very difficult to let them into my world.  Master is one of the few people who really has a inkling of who I really am inside.
