Greetings to all,

i have noticed much adherence to tradition in this forum and if this question has been addressed - please forgive me for a repost. i am curious about Gorean dance since reading this quote and would be interested to know if this too is a skill encouraged among Goreans in the real world.

"The dancing of a slave is a thousand times more sensuous than that of a free woman because of the incredible meanings involved, the additional richness which this furnishes, the explosive significance of this comprehension, that she who dances is owned, and theoretically, could be owned by you."

I would encourage you to tread the dawn or dance as you call it.  I like a woman's moves to be graceful.  That is a power they have and should hold.

Greetings, dawn...

This might sound a little silly, but from what I've read in the books so far about the dances, it is done with such heart that the slave throws herself completely into it.  I don't think it's just blind thrashing about, arms flailing wildly like electrocuted tentacles.  I think there's a purpose to the beat, to the music, and that it connects with each movement of the hips, the turning of the shoulders, the pointing and rolling of the toes, feet and ankles.

Wait, okay--back to the "this might sound silly" part--sometimes, when I'm by myself, cleaning, or whatever, I'll have music on.  And while doing whatever it is that I'm doing, sometimes I'll stop and actually start dancing.  Not, of course, in the way that one might dance at a club, or hopping around with friends.  But I find myself actually practicing, as though I am teaching myself to make each movement sensual and erotic, breathtaking and exotic (hey, I can rhyme!).  I'll imagine what I've read in the books, and use that imagination to put myself in the books, dancing before the Masters.

My point is, that I do these things in preparation for my future Master.  I think that there are many that still practice this skill (as it takes skill) today, and I have no doubt that there are Gorean men here, even in this very community that would greatly enjoy the dance of a kajira.

Well wishes,

little onyx

Greetings girls,

fyre has to concern herself with
If she does the wash and cleaning
How Master wants it,
not exotic movements...

dancing is not on His top list of things she needs to know how to do for day to day service and pleasure...
altho she is allowed to clean and dance with the music on, it can not interefere with chores
not that master minds this sort of thing....he would just rather an efficent cleaner than dancer

fyre remembers when she was unowned and had such 'romantic' notions of Master and slave

to answer the question
all females on Gor are required to have the knowledge of pleasurable movements
but the slave dances
speak of the passion of the submission and surrender
and the fight of the girls belly
being awakened and
ending with the total compliance

this is why the quote mentions a difference

well wishes
edited because  fyre seems to be getting blind as a bat

Thankyou  mnottertail, little onyx, and fyreredsub,
i came to this question because i practice Tai Chi. i do this in the morning with very specific movements to bring in energy and again in the evening to release energy and negativity. It is all done to music and all the movements are slow, fluid and with purpose. It is like a spiritual dance. This morning, the quote above caused me to correlate the two and ofcourse ask the question.
The recieved answers are quite interesting because they are all different and they reflect certain stigmas present in modern society.  This is a surprising result to me(and not actually where i was going with this question) for a segment of alternative lifestyle that is based on a fictional/fantasy society albeit honorable principles. So far, a male point  of view would encourage it, an uncollared slave practices for the future Master, and an owned slave is not encouraged and finds it a "romantic notion" from before ownership,  i will be most curious, if there are other responses, whether they will fall into the paradigms of modern society or break free from the stereotypical relationship allowing for passion to flourish  because of the very dynamic between domination and submission that draws so many of us to it...

i have heard many slaves on this forum "speak" of their passion for serving but i cannot imagine anything more beautiful than a slave "dancing" their passion of submission and surrender or a modern variant of it even if only in the way littleonyx describes when putting sensual and erotic movements to every day tasks... Ofcourse this is just the opinion of a non Gorean woman who know what it is like to lose passion in a relationship in favor of a spotless house :-)

i hope none will find offense with my original question or this follow-up and feel inclined to answer...

greetings dawn

passion  doesnt get lost on a clean house,
but there is a time and place for everything, Is there not?

we cant be twirling n sweating  n sexy ,24/7, unfortunately dishes wont get done, the laundry will pile up and the trash won tmake it to the curb for pick-up,let alone that pay check get earned.....that does not mean one does not move as gracefully as possible and clump about noiseily(sp)

as for romantic notions fyre was filled with them at one time just as any other girl with a belly awakening.

read the words of the Masters here in various threads...........on what makes them happy

it isnt all about sex and dancing.........

well wishes

greetings fyre,

As you say above, "there is a time and place for everything" -  including dancing ... my question was simply about whether Gorean dance was encouraged in Gorean relationships. i was not implying its importance over other tasks nor that relationships should be "all sex and dancing".

If the Gorean Masters here do not like the rituals of slave dancing in their relationships i am sure they will answer this if so inclined. i am not argueing the beauty of submission in the mundane, i am merely asking about dance.

my opinion in the prior post was from my own experience as i stated. i just thought it a beautiful image of feminine submission and if i was a Master of my own house, i would encourage it...

greetings dawntreader;

sabba believes it to be true, that dancing can be incredibly sensual and significant. she doesn't necessarily believe, as the quote implies, that is excludes a FW automatically. Master has had sabba taking a pole dancing class, for reasons that had nothing to do with learning to dance.....but that's another story. The by product of the classes is that sabba has become much more aware of her movements, her gracefulness, and that extends into sabba's everyday life as well. And when sabba is conscious of those thoughts, the comprehension IS significant, and does serve to remind sabba she is owned property.

well wishes,
sabba{CB}

greetings dawn,

obviously fyre misunderstood,
what your were saying in your response back post

'and an owned slave is not encouraged and finds it a "romantic notion" from before ownership, "

yes a girl should know how to dance, she stated this before with some context getting lost somewhere tween yourself
 and fyre.

she is not discouraged in the least it just not a biggie

enjoy your weekend

greetings dawn

Master PhantomOp has never encouraged me in dancing or learning to dance better. He has kept me busy learning painting , tiling , reseeding the lawn and all sorts of other mat and kettle type stuff.

Before being owned I had always imagined becoming this exotic type pleasure slave but it has not turned out that way at all.

Oddly enough though it really works for me because I am very service oriented and get alot of joy performing these other more menial type tasks.

well wishes
kisshou

PS if pressed though I can do a booty shaking table top stripper kinda dance *lol*

Greetings Masters & Mistresses,
Greetings girls,

I love to dance and like littleonyx, I have found myself dancing while doing chores. It happens. I love to move gracefully, sensuously. I want the man whom I am serving to see sex-in-motion no matter what it is that I am doing.  Granted, sometimes it is easier than others, but you know, once you begin such little habits they become less choreographed and more natural. A certain turn of the knee or snap of the hip that might catch a Man's eye while he is busy doing something or other within sight.

You know, also, belly-dancing is great exercise.  I cannot say that I am a trained belly dancer. I'm not.  And believe you me, it's not as easy as those that are trained make it look.  When you try to focus to make a wave start at the tip of your fingers and move up along your arm that makes it almost look like you have no bones - lemme tell ya - forget about it! It's hard work! But, it's fun and if you have a friend to try it with, it's a million laughs!  So while you may or may not end up being a belly-dancer, I do believe you will get a great work out AND learn a lot more about how to move.  I'm wearing out the DVD that I bought which teaches the dance.  I'm certain live-classes would be much better.

To me, dance is simply part of being female. I hear music and it surrounds me and I find myself unable to resist it. Music is definitely a Dominant in my opinion.  I just allow it to take me and ride my body and bring me where it may, leaving me at the end ... breathless.

Warmly,

amber

Thankyou to all that have replied :-)

i too am of the thinking that at times, simple gestures can be made sensual and consequently take them from the ordinary to the extraordinary. i like the description above "sex in motion" and i see making the mundane beautiful as part of service well done. Meaning put into every task.... again though, just my opinion. And the luxury of learning from past mistakes when i did not make the time to make the simple special.

Would you sing that, and we'll dance to it?
