ORIGINAL: BoiJen Just a thoguht and it's my opinion only on the whole Gor thing...it's ahrd limit becuase it's not based within reality. What we do within the leather community is based on things that other people do and hav been doing for sometime...just check out Vi Jhonsons Leather Library or The Leather Archives and Museum. Gor however is based on a series of scifi books. Where's the reality in that? Sorry to burst any bubbles. But if it's protocol you're clinging to it's out there in a formulated sense and within the scope of things that actually can happen. That whole Gor thing...not so much so. Greetings Jen, I'll offer a thought that is not in any way intended to be offensive to the Leather community, though you may consider it as such. What you are espousing to be 'real' is no more or less real than what Goreans practice. The leather community enjoys a specific type of suspended disbelief just as Goreans do. There are no Masters or slaves. There is no ownership. There's only the fantasy of such, as slavery and ownership are subject to voluntary adhesion to roles. The difference, then, isn't in how M/s is practiced, but rather why it is practiced. I don't believe the Leather community has established philosophies on why they interact the way they do, beyond it's simply enjoyable (perhaps Archer would be kind enough to correct me if this statement is inaccurate.) Goreans, on the other hand, make an effort to understand why they own slaves, as a manifestation of their own lives as a complete and self-containing philosophy. They don't own slaves simply because it 'feels good' (though, naturally, gratification plays an important role. It's safe to say, as a lesbian, you're not likely to find much in common with a male dominated form of M/s as practiced in Gor. That's fine; the world is big enough for everyone. Rest assured, there's no more basis for Leather protocol than there is Gorean protocol. After all, they're simply means to achieve the same goal. Beauty. Well wishes, Stephan
