quote:
ORIGINAL: SylvereApLeanan Since gender roles are societal constructs that determine expectations for behavior, [...], I don't quite see how it's possible to separate gender dynamics from relationship dynamics. What I mean is that there is a difference between interpersonal dynamics that center on gender as the determining factor of the dynamic and ones that center on the relationship between the parties as the determining factor of the dynamic. Quite simply, the dynamic portrayed in the books is an artifact of world reduction and artificial selection by the PKs. quote:
Somewhere, I have a CDR with books 1-25 in text format. If you haven't got access to them and would like an e-copy, I'll dig it up and email it to you. Ar is one of the more conservative city-states, but it is often cited as a model for Gor at large. I have the books. I would suggest not mentioning e-copies on these boards, as Simon is wont to report such things to various authorities. As for Ar, I quite agree that they are rather conservative, and while some hold it up as the pinnacle of what Gor should be, I am not one of those. Perhaps there's a tiny bit of Viking left in my bloodline, I dunno. quote:
How would that POV conflict with Gorean philosophy? I didn't say it did, I just said some will probably take exception to it. Health, al-Aswad.
