I have a love-hate relationship with the South. I was born here, am a Southerner born and bred, yet I don't hunt, fish, drive a truck, wear a baseball cap, enjoy NASCAR, professional wrestling, or most sports. I do, however, eat grits and drink sweet tea and love aspects of life here. The constancy of the specter of racism is one of the things I hate worst. I find racism vile on any number of levels, and have spent much of My life working against that particular stereotype. Imagine, however, My discomfort when scening for the first time with an African-American female: the entire time, I'm hearing Neil Young's "Southern Man" echoing in My ears! As it turned out, the racial issue never was adressed in any way during our tme together, and the scenes we shared were, well, memorable. But that initial discomfort was difficult to work through. In your case, since it's something that you have discussed, and it's something that you clearly enjoy, I'd sugget you asking Him to unpack His hesitancy a bit for you; that might be a growing experience for both of you. Personally, I don't care much for verbal humiliation, and don't do it unless it has been fully discussed and boundaries set.
