Morgan's whips are very reasonably priced new from his website www.davidmorgan.com.

as a note I would recomend something other than the 8 plait. I'll throw out on ya in about a year or so, if you throw it often. What I mean by throw out, after the initial break in where the whip will limber up, after contiued use, the whip will become almost too limber to use properly

I agree with HanoverPhist...by the time the whip is broken in, its too limp to use with any profiency (like breaking in a new pair of sneakers!) definitely go with more plaits, as the break in time is far less, and they tend to last a long time with minimal care.

you can try murphy whips www.murphywhips.com for Aussie whips at reasonable prices. Also, http://www.snakepitleatherworks.com/index.html and

http://www.flogger.com/products.htm

I have a used Morgan about 6 years old if you are interested, but if I won't use it, I don't recommend you do either.

I do have hints for helping you break in an 8 plait quicker--have you or your slave work on it every day with Picard Dressing ( he sends you that) and keep it a few times a week overnight in a plastic bag, keeping the moisture in. You MUST use it daily that is, practice often, to get your signature in it (your own way of whipping, so to speak) and NEVER allow any one else to use it. My whip has My signature in it, so chances are, it wouldn't work with you anyway. Keep that in mind when buying a used single tail or signal whip.

Good luck!

I think we can all agree that a higher plait whip is absolutely better. I got a 24 plait last fall that I am passionately in love with.

However, an 8 plait Morgan is a good economic foray into the world of signal whips to see if you enjoy the medium without dropping a bundle. I do use my 3 foot 8 plait Morgan as it's convenient for "venues" where space is limited, like at a private play party in someone's living room. I still get good accuracy out of it after 6+ years.

It's tough to drop $250 to $500 on a signal whip if you don't even know you'll enjoy working with them. They ARE more demanding skill wise than a lot of things out there (e.g. floggers, paddles, etc). A $100 investment is a little easier to absorb if you end up not using it much.

I can second MistressAinCT recommendation of flogger.com....my sub got me a very nice 12 plait, 4 ft signal for about $225, including Roger Steven's video and some leather care product...it has become a regular part of our play over the past year and is holding up very well. They delivered promptly and we could not be happier. It's one of my cherished items along with an excellent set of armbiners and a great leather corset.
