High Noon is a film I always loved as a kid. I found out later that while he was writing it, Carl Foreman was having to appear before HUAC and that fed the feeling of abandonment the character feels, trying to raise support for the showdown. But even if you don't know that about the film, it's really powerful in that whole macho thing of " a man's gotta do", not backing down and personal honour, bushido. Sometimes a little of that adds colour to the mundanity of life.
Aaaah, I have not seen the movie, hence the confusion. Just seemed really dreary.

It is from the movie, “The ledged of Billy Jack”. The story of a Native American, who took it upon himself to protect the wild horse herds , and underprivileged children at a reservation school in the area where he grew up; from the ignorance and prejudice of the people from a neighboring town.
I forget exactly how the movie goes, but he ends up doing something that gets him arrested, in an attempt toward justice.
The message seems to be the same, with a different plot.
The problem with that theory is, when dealt with in that way, the loss is often so great, that the prize seems hardly worth it.
