Something odd happened to me last night on CM. i was contacted by this Dom (i won't say who). i had just posted a short journal, and this guy was responding too it. We had a short conversation. His emails were kind of odd. They were all single sentences and seemed almost robotic or route, although he was obviously reading and responding to what i was saying, so it couldn't have been a robot. He seemed to be telling me what he thought i wanted to hear, although his responses seemed almost formulaic. There was also an odd delay between the time i emailed him, and when he would answer. He did not ask me for money, or pictures or anything.

Well, several people looked at my profile at the same time, and i looked back, and i guess i confused their profile information with his. i looked at some other guy, who had multiple cities of residence in his profile. i thought it was the guy i was talking to, and so i asked him why he had so many cities in his profile. What was odd, is that he answered the question, instead of asking me what i was talking about, although his answer didn't make sense. He responded that he had a stalker and a hacker, and that he kept complaining to the CM management, but they couldn't do anything about it. i didn't understand how that was an answer to the question i had asked him, but i didn't really think that much about it at the time.

We exchanged a few more emails, and in the middle of one of those strange pauses, while i was waiting for his answer, i emailed his and told him i had to go to bed. i was really tired, because i hadn't slept the night before, and it was getting late. So, i emailed him, and told him i had enjoyed talking to him, and hoped to talk to him again sometime, and then logged off CM.

This morning, i logged on CM again, and discovered that after i had logged off last night, this guy had sent me a message, but i couldn't read it because he had "unsent" it. What does that mean? How can you unsend an email? Furthermore, earlier this morning, before i logged on, he sent me two separate friend invitations, one right after the other. When i logged on and read them, i accepted them both. i usually accept friend invitations, and i thought it was just a computer glitch that there were two of them. i was answering a bunch of emails in a row, going down the list of the oldest ones first.

Anyway, the odd thing is that i had received another email, a few minutes after this guy sent me his friend invitation. It was from someone else that i had never spoken to, and who had never viewed my profile. This person warned me "do not accept my friends invitation", and that he couldn't explain now, and that i shouldn't try to contact him but should wait till he contacted me again. This person did not have an active profile.

i was getting suspicious at that point, but it was too late. i had already accepted the friend invitation. It was also unclear whether it was a different person that had sent me this warning, or the same guy that sent me the friend invitation. His exact words were to not accept "his friends invitation". That could mean not to accept the invitation from him, or that his friend had sent it. Like, maybe he forgot the apostrophe, or something. Also, this mysterious warning that i shouldn't try to contact him, and should wait for him to contact me and explain. i am tempted to think this whole this is just a practical joke, somebody getting a kick out of trying to fuck with me. But i don't know. i didn't give this guy any personal information, except my first name. Either guy, if there were really two of them. i am wondering if anyone out there has had this happen to them. Thanks for reading.

Nope, you're the only one.    Robotic responses are usually just that... they are looking for keywords in your message and responding to that, which is why the answer doesn't make sense.

There is nothing dangerous about accepting a friend invitation.  If you change your mind, just go to the friends tab to remove a friend, or look at the top after you're on the friends tab as there is a tab for "allowed friends", go there and you can remove yourself from their friends list.

To read an unsent mail (there is a button to unsend a mail) from someone that has mailed you before, just click on another of his mails and hit the reply button.  Then scroll down and you can see what was unsent.

It sounds like way too much drama from the get-go.

Sounds like married/taken and lying to me...and I agree, I would not think too much about it and move on if I were you. Instant drama is not a good sign.

If something doesn't feel right or makes you suspiscious I say follow your gut and simply cut your loses. The block feature is your friend! I personally don't accept friend invitation unless I know the person from the forums, r/l, or have had conversations with them prior. Not because they can do anything by being on my list but I HATE "friend collectors" and I take the label friend very seriously.

Good tip CalifChick! I discovered how to look at emails unsent and otherwise awhile back too...but if you send one then unsend it and delete it I don't think it can be seen. I like to use that process to look at emails sent to me without having them marked as read too just too see if I want to respond right now or not.

Thank you, CalifChick, for letting us know all of this.  I was clueless.

Robotic responses, sheesh, what will people think up next...

Dude is setting himself up to be your hero. He's using multiple screen names (delayed in response because he's checking mail on multiple accounts.) "Don't talk to this guy .. he's a bad man! But I can't explain."

Eventually his "bad side" will do something insidious, like call you nasty names.  You'll be heartbroken and shortly after, his "good side" will return and comfort you.

I can't begin to tell you how much cyber ass I've bagged with that tactic.

I dealt with a guy over a period of years in a number of forums I ended up Mod and Administering who had an amazing repertoire of tricks.

Over a 7 year period he mustve used nearly 60 hotmail addys, nearly 200 different user id's, disposable cell phones etc and the back stories this cretin had were amazing!

He was targeting women using 2 or 3 persona's, one making friends, one abusive and the final as a saviour.

The thing was that it was so well orchestrated that the victims seemed crazy and would babble on losing more and more credibility.

Till I put it all together.

Fortunately he wasnt very tech savvy and this brought him undone as word spread and more and more girls started contacting me, sending me copies of email and we set up a covert information sharing ring which taught us a lot.

What amazes me is the amount of time and effort he would put into this grooming headfuckery, but he finally came unstuck when outed on a major forum.

All I can suggest is to go with your gut and if it looks like shit, smells like shit then ya dont have to taste it to be sure its shit (Unless thats your kink ofcourse in which case go right on ahead)

There are 5 girls that no longer think I am a psychic and that because I can read unsent mail, I have magic powers. I hate you for telling this!.
