It's easier to suppress Sally Field's speech, than it is to defend Bush's failed Foreign Policy and Strategy in Iraq.

I think she was right about how there would be no war if mothers ruled the world. Mothers would give people on both sides of a conflict "Time Outs" instead, and then make them shake hands, afterward.

And there`s the censored Fox version.

Which version is better for freedom, the free one,or the one "big brother" edited?

Does Fox (or any network) have the right to censor (or moderate, as here at CM) speech, "in their house", so to speak?

Another mothers' answer to Sally Fields:

"Sally Field doesn't speak for me"

quote:

Like actress Sally Field, I am a mom. Unlike Sally Field, I do not live in La-La Land. We breathe a different brand of oxygen. We hold diametrically opposed worldviews. We have nothing in common but stretch marks.

Contrary to tongue-tied Sally's incoherent primetime Emmy Awards diatribe, childbearing and child-rearing experiences do not bond all women in a universal sorority of non-confrontation. There are sheep moms. There are lion moms. We know which kind Sally Field is.
"If mothers ruled the, ruled the world, there would be no god-damned wars in the first place," Field bleated. In the Gidget Guide to Parenting, mothers are appeasers and hand-holders. Our maternal instincts supposedly lead us to shun fights and coddle bullies instead of disciplining them.

There would be "no god-damned wars," Silly Sally, because we'd all be conquered chattel if Field Diplomacy "ruled the world."

And hire a hit man when some other mother's child makes the cheerleading squad...

So now Sally gets to pronounce who is a 'Twue Mom'?

I thought Dan Quayle had already staked out that territory.

ah,..Yeah,...it`s a democratic system,where people differ.(goes w/out saying)

So what? What`s your point?

That not everyone agrees? (ah duh!)

Big deal and whatever. We all know that.

Is there something you can add, that we already don`t know about?
Something relevant?

Depends on whose freedom you're looking at, I suppose, hence my question. Sally still got to say what she wanted, but does that mean everyone has to listen? Or that a network has to allow her to say it "in house"?

Who cares what Sally Field thinks.  I certainly don't.  What I do mind, is her taking advantage of an opportunity like accepting an Emmy, to speak her politics.  Out of place, out of context, out of line.

I've got a question for you.

You know those little ankle-nipper dogs that come racing out of people's yards when you're jogging down the street, or just walking along, or riding your bike? What the hell are you supposed to do when those annoying little bastards start attacking your boots?

I mean, you've got every right to go walking down that street, right? Yet you're not supposed to give them a little kick to them and send them rolling down the sidewalk. Whoever owns the place you're walking by would freak - it's like they're a protected species that can do whatever it damn well pleases. No one seems to mind the toothless little yappers gumming away on your polished boot leather.

So what the hell is a guy supposed to do?

Hmmmm...Rather remarkable...Such an odd occurence.... I don't believe I've ever encountered an actor who's political beliefs leaned toward the left...Using an awards show to further a political agenda?...I can't believe it happened...Is this the first time anyone has ever had the nerve to do such a thing?

Why would FOX host such an event?  Are they that short sighted?  To those of you who get upset and don't like the fact that actors will talk about their political feelings and express their views in the time that they are alloted,  you should probably not watch such events....Life will be easier for you.
