ORIGINAL: subtee Ghita, morning, what is the best furniture to bust up to burn for heat? K thanks... I'm not ghita, but I've been forced to break down most of My dungeon furniture for heat... Hardwoods are the best (oak, ash, birch, poplar), but to get the fire going hot enough to catch the hardwoods, you can use softwoods (pine, spruce, cedar, etc.) in smaller doses.. unless it's kiln-dried or *very* well seasoned... if it's not then it'll clog up your chimney. Definitely stay away from plywood, particle board waferboard (OSB)... those are all infused with copious amounts of glue, which can be toxic when burned. Also, stay away from pressure-treated wood, normally used for outside applications like decks, as the weather-proofing agent they use is highly toxic.
