I love it when a friend calls and cheers me up. I also love it when something I posted lands in PP's sig line and makes me remember when I wrote it, and makes me want to write this, because it's true... I love it when I'm able to hear one of my favorite songs, the theme from "The Sound of Music," and I'm transported back to each and every time I've heard it or sung it. The place I landed tonight was 1988... the spring musical at my high school, senior year. I can vividly remember the dress rehearsals, the actual shows, the night we missed a cue and poor DF had to improvise, and the last curtain call. I was "there," and the thrill I felt in my whole being while hearing that music, made me cry nostalgic tears, and choked me up to the point that I couldn't finish singing the song. Thing 1 asked me what was wrong - why was I crying, and all I could do was whisper, "Nothing... I feel the music and the memories. My heart's full, so it makes tears fall, that's all..." Then my father, another musically inclined person, smiled and said, "I know exactly what you mean."
