I love all the mushiness! I love LadyH's use of the word "replicants". LMAO... I love that He came by to see me for a little bit on His way home from work, even though He's feeling sick. I love that, when I asked Him about cooking a chicken (He's a tremendous cook), He started talking and I got a fit of the giggles (I know, shocking). He asked what was the matter and I said, "Basically, you want me to lube my hands with oil and massage my bird, that about right?" He gave me a big dimpled smile that made me feel all ticklish. (In His old neighborhood, a "bird" = girlie bits.) I love that I spent several hours tonight working on an "assignment" that Thing 1's counselors gave me about how parents can help heal "wounded" Things and help them trust and love. I felt ready to take this on because of all the soul-searching I've done the past 2 months, and because of the encouragement that I've received by so many of you on the boards, whether by post, email, IM, or phone call. You all are the best. I love that I was able to write down answers that have shown me where part of my pain comes from, and where some of those awful "voices" poen spoke of are coming from. Some of that realization was scary because I never made a connection between some of the painful things from the past and how I react now until tonight. I love that Wanders spoke of The Happiness Trap, and I went to the website and printed off some of the information about ACT and Mindfulness because it sounded familiar with things the counselors had been saying in weeks past, and took it to my meeting today. They had never heard of the book, but knew the ACT principles and said that they were going to get some workbooks for me to use if I wanted to. (I said yes.) I love it that last night, when I was getting really irritated about just everything and was going off on the world, Thing 1 came out and said, "Mom, if you don't know why you're mad - then you need to stop. You need to stop. Give me a hug. I love you." And that made the whole day worthwhile, because I know that he's listening... to me, his counselors, his teachers. He doesn't look like it much of the time, but he is listening, and he was able to rein Mom back in last night, instead of the other way around. I love that Thing 2 got her book report done 2 days early and was doing a happy dance in the living room before she went to bed. I love that my dad went to the pharmacy and got my Rx for me just so I wouldn't have to go back out in the rain. I love my family and friends. (wee typo)
