*slightly political warning/disclaimer, and a "You've already heard this one" to GT* OK, I love my dad. Everyone knows this. (Several of the gals here also love him because he's just too awesome for words.) I have gone back and forth during this election time from my pivitol position from smack dab in the center, as a diehard Independent. My dad - a moderate Republican, who once helped form the Republican Committee in our county in the 50's or '60's, has been listening to my ramblings as I have tried to figure out what's what and who's who in my eyes. I recently gave my nod to Obama, as in earlier this week. Tonight, I went to the Obama HQ in my little town and got some stickers, bumper stickers, and a "Republicans for Obama" sign (just because I liked it). I brought the stuff home and dad wanted to see it all. I showed him the sign and he smiled and asked what I was going to do with it. I shrugged and said, "I don't know. I just liked it." He said, "Hang it up somewhere." So, I hung it up in the living room, over his piano, right where he can see it when he watches tv. He smiled and asked me what else I had. I showed him the "Veterans for Obama" lapel stickers they gave me and I told him that maybe he would like to give them to someone if he felt like it. He said, "No. Those are mine. Most of my veteran friends are gone, so I'll keep them for me." I just had to giggle inside. Then he said, "Did I see bumper stickers?" I said, "Yes, I got two. One for each side of my bumper in the back." He asked, "What about my car?" (He drives a Caddy El Dorado, all leather, mint condition... we don't breathe wrong on this car, much less stick things to it.) I said, "You can have one of these. Back bumper, center?" He said, "No, front bumper, driver's side." I said, "Why there?" He said, "I back my car in at church, right in front of the main entrance. When people come out, it'll be the first thing they see." I almost fell flat over. Talk about your shock and awe! I asked if he was trying to cause an uprising and he said, "No, but I'm the patriarch of that church. At 83 years old, no one is dare going to say anything to me. I do what I want, not what others want me to do." I just LOVE him! Go Dad!!!!! <----- note the 5!
