I love that my brother-in-law changed out the battery in my van this afternoon. I love that when I got to the auto parts place to get the alternator checked, the guy who worked there was very helpful and explained it all to me. He also charged and checked out the old battery and found out it was defective. (Seven yr. battery, one year old = defective) The alternator also was defective and also one year old, replaced at the same time. With the guy's extra mile that he went for me, he found out that THEY were the parts store who sold the garage the alternator. Turns out the manufacturer has a lifetime warranty on defects. My dad and I took the van to the garage and dropped it off on our way home, so I'll be over there bright and early in the morning. Having the knowledge that the alternator is under warranty gives me a huge upper hand in the event that they don't want to do anything. Also, since my brother-in-law is a big trucks mechanic, he can put the new alternator in for free, and has told me that the battery should be under warranty because his company buys from the same place as mine came from. My sister said that I need to reel in the redheadedness in the morning, unless they give me shit, and then, I am to remember that I work for a law firm that makes "courtesy calls" for its employees when they are getting screwed without getting kissed first.
