The Goblet movie did feel very compressed, I agree.

So how have you been, Jaq?

I liked Goblet of Fire best for the movies too, although I was a bit upset with some of the things they left out.

I don't have the 'what got left out' problem.  I don't read the books.  The movies are wonderful, escapist fantasy, and I don't want them spoiled.

i kind of agree, Heretic.  i've seen all the movies so far, and loved them.  But i still would like to read the books sometime, too.

you two the movies are fine to those that havnt read the books but the best rule of thumb is to read the book before seeing the movie then you know whats supposto happen in spots that they leave out.

but I mean, you do have to understand that there are time restrictions .. and to include the D. Party would have meant other events that they would have to include as well.  they just had to edit it out.  I'd rather it be something like that, than something too terribly important.

That may be your rule of thumb, but I don't see it that way.  My introduction to Potter was the first film.  I loved it.  I read the first couple of books after that, and just found them too juvenile.  When the second movie came out, having read the book kept me from just being able to immerse myself in the illusion.  I want to be able to go to the movies in the second or third week of release, see it with the big screen and big sound without any distractions from the version they have chosen to present on the screen.

The first 2 movies were great, but the next 2 just doesn't cut it IMO. Maybe its because I don't like the new Dumbledore. He looks a lot less confident.

I did not even bother seeing the 5th film. The poster of the 6 riding BROOMSTICKS just pissed me off.

(snip)

Yes, i liked Richard Harris's version of Dumbledore.  It's sad that he's no longer with us.  i've been slowly warming up to Michael Gambon's version since he took over the role.
