When we got our late beloved golden, she had previously lived with the divorced guy at the corner of the block. His kids would come up and visit her, and us, and inevitably they and mine would squabble over who the dog belonged to. That ended when I told them all that she wasn't our dog, we were all her people. And she could, and did, love all of us. Same with Pye, he wasn't your sister's cat. You and she were his people. And both of you loved him and were loved by him. Don't feel that your grief is somehow in competition with hers, because that's not true. You have your own individual memories that will come out and lay you low when you are least expecting it. As well as times the two of you can cry over, and eventually laugh over, together.
