I really hate dealing with tech support people who have no idea what they're actually doing. The following is the end of a conversation I just had less than ten minutes ago, only the name has been changed to protect the incompetent... ~~~~~~~~ For some reason I'd gotten a password changed during this long phone call, and it didn't help anyway. So at the end of the call I have the internet access working, and I'm cheering. "Oh hey look, it's working! I can hit yahrite, googly and all those other web sites. Thanks!" "Alright, that is good. Now that password is just temporary, you need to change it." "Wait, what password? Was that to a web site, which I couldn't reach before now anyway?" "No, it's to the Happy Duckling main page." "So it's a website." "No it's not, it's at www.xxxxxx--" "Right, a web site." "It is not a web site, it is the main information page. To use it you need to change the temporary password." "Riiiiiiight. I don't care about that, I just wanted my internet back up. And it is, thanks a bunch!" "But you need to change this temporary password, it is only temporary." "Sorry, not going to happen. Thanks for helping and um, night!" *click* About 5 minutes later he calls back, asks for my mum, I decline and hang up. Ye Flipping GODS!!! ISP tech support that doesn't know the ISPs page is um, a web page? Cripes! *wanders off muttering darkly under his breath*
