Status: offline 		Rice a Roni - is a boxed food mix that consists of rice, vermicelli pasta, and seasonings. To prepare, the rice and pasta are browned in butter, then water and seasonings are added and simmered until absorbed.
 
It's kind of like a rice pilaf.
 
Back in the 1960's and 1970's (i think) its TV commercial featured a San Francisco cable car that ran its bell.  The jingle was "Rice a Roni...the San Francisco treat.<ding, ding>"
 
Later, the prize on a quiz show was a Life Time Supply of Rice a Roni.  That is why we say the prize for this thread is Rice a Roni.
