I hate it when my Lord gets sick at work and I don't hear the cell phone for TWO HOURS because it's on vibrate.
I hate that I failed him for two hours.
His work wanted to call an ambulance because he actually got sick at his desk.
He has bleeding ulcers and scared the co-workers.
I hate it when I'm having a bad slave day.

Poor Asher, that's awful. My love to you both and especially to him - get well soon. I also want to say that you didn't fail him, the moment you knew you were right there. A failure would have been to have known and choose something less pressing to do. You didn't. He'll be proud of you x

Thank you so much MissMorrigan for the kind words, of course, everyone has been right.  I was just having one of those very emotional/hormonal kind of days where I felt like beating myself up.  Thanks for listening!

*Smooch!*

Thanks- I'm doing the LPN program at a lil community college with a great reputation, but apparently the only big burn hospital around here- Grady, does not like LPN's messing with their ICU burn patients. :(

can you do post icu burn patients? or do they go into general ward anyways? that way you can get the lowdown on the things the patients hated (other than that deemed necessary) in the burns ward. sometimes it's all about how the nurses handle them. ie. being a patient as opposed to a person

I do not really want to do general ward though. :-/  I know, I know, I'm being picky.

I do not have any experience with general ward... other than my own hospital stay. XD I'd like to work in the ICU because I did some work with a unit in san antonio.. but I do not believe anyone made it back to general?

lol, lynnxz, if nursing there is anything like nursing here, you'll HAVE to do general/medical wards for your first few pracs before they'll let you branch off and have short stays in specialised wards. it's a good way to weed out those who won't make it.

nursing is about lots of poo, spew and goo as i'm sure you're aware, and if students can't handle that, well, they're wasting everyone's time. i remember a few student nurses with me who refused to handle any of that. i can't imagine they ever finished the course, and if they did, my god i hope i never get them.

i ended up never finishing my degree. i was cool with the p,s and g, but the clinical aspects didn't interest me at all. and nursing is LOTS about that clinical stuff. i've discovered i'm far and away more interested and better at the social/spiritual/welfare side of nursing and will be investigating a more social work leaning in my studies.

Right now, it looks like a no.  Mom is doing better, but she still needs someone to do her driving after PT, so I have to stick kinda close to home base for a bit.  Atleast until she gets stronger.

So how is she knee progressing, curious what percent of curve or whatever they measure it by is.  Mom was lucky PT came to her so she didnt have to get out, which is good because I didnt have a DL.  Mom I think got to a 7 degree straight knee about 3 weeks after surgury.

Tell mom to work work work it, not just rely on PT days.  Mom was determined and it paid off. The PT person said the more you work it in teh beginning the more successful it will be and can offset any additional surgury.   Many need it redone because it wasnt worked well enough.  Im sure your Mom is a strong determined woman, after all she is your mom :)

My Mom is going great with her new knee.  She was at about a 35 the day after surgery, and currently shes at a 85 or so.  They took the staples out 2 weeks ago, and with the way shes been keeping cocoa butter on it, you cant tell they were there.  The surgery scar looks like its about 3 months old, as opposed to just being a month a 1 day old.  She got rid of her walker about 2 weeks in, and now occasionally uses the cane.  She exercises her knee everyday.  The one problem we are having is getting her thigh muscle to fire back.  they had to cut a bit of it, and now its kinda freaking out and not working like normal.  Other than waking up during the middle of the surgery, shes had no serious complications, and for that, I am happy.  I am just ready to quit being her chauffer.  Back seat drivers make me nutty!

Thats fantastic Kytten!

Those knee replacement are only successfully with a person determined to put in time.  Mom had been cleared to drive only if necessary after 2 weeks of course that meant no more PT home visits and he was cute too.  Sounds like she is doing great and might just have to retrain or maybe build up a close muscle in her thigh.  PT people are great if you get the ones that really want to see progress and work harder with those that have that fire of determination.

Its made a world of difference to my mom, now she doesnt complain about the knee just everything else but is determined her name will be mentioned on the Today Show at her 100 year old mark, and as tough as she is she will be right in the crowd.

Taking care of the moms can be stressful and a right pain in the ass especially at first but it makes you feel good when you see how much better they are getting and how proud they are of each little goal.

That and the little bit of satification when they are on the knee torture machine from hell, since they are leg locked and you can just sneak some me time in.  God bless hidden chocolate. LOL

I am so happy that Mama chose to do PT at the new ortho offices therapy center.  The therapists she had with the first replacement were scared to kinda push her to keep going.  These new people are gentle, but they dont baby the patients, and she has gone a lot further in a short amount of time than she did with the last one.

I go get a giggle when shes in therapy and I get my private time.  I am usually in the waiting room crocheting and giggling while she is either laughing or talking or squealing in slight pain and I can hear her through the walls...

I hate it when I have had one too many drinks, and dunk my hand into my glass, instead of my can of cashews.  I swear to drunk, I'm not God.
