I remember when I cleaned out my desk on my last day at work last summer, people came up and were talking to me, wishing me well, etc., and the President of the company said that I was causing a distraction, so he had the HR director tell me to "hurry up" my cleaning out process and go home, they would pay me for the whole day, but to just leave because too many people were talking to me. 

That was ok... some of my friends called me toward the end of the day and told me to come to a local restaurant/pub, where everyone was waiting to wish me a happy send off.
