A popover is a a light, hollow roll made from an egg batter.  It looks like a smooth muffin until you open it and it's hollow.   It's one of the things i was taught to bake when i was in 7th grade Home Economics class.

Creamed HB egg is a white sauce (Béchamel sauce) (learned white sauce in HomeEc, too) with chopped up hard boiled egg mixed in.

Creamed dried beef is a white sauce with chopped up dried beef in it.  (It's what SOS is made of if you know anyone who has been in the military.)  Dried beef used to be sold in a small glass jar.  More recently i've seen it in a little bag near the Canadian bacon and pepperoni in the store.

Back in the 1960's when i was first married i got real good at making "creamed whatnot on whatever".  "Whatnot" was HB egg, dried beef, tuna, chicken, etc.  "Whatever" was toast, rice, popovers, noodles, etc.  It was a good way to use up leftovers.  i prefer using white sauce instead of Campbells cream soups.  You can make quantities that match your need and control the salt.

Cranberries sound good this morning.  i get the whole fresh cranberries when they are in the store and freeze them.  They have no sugar added.  When i use them i add a little Splenda if they are too tart.  i put them in muffins, pancakes and quick bread.  For an interesting salsa i microwave some cranberries a little and mash them - then chop up some Jalapeño and green onions with it.  Also, add cilantro and lime juice.  Some folks use a food processor, but that is a lot of trouble to clean.

Hi, Angel.  i've been fondling yarns lately.  Still working on plastic canvas needlepoint tissue box covers.  What colors are in your latest project?

black and white gingham for a baby sling. tried a retro green and cream, but was far too thick.

the wedding quilt i've got the fabrics for, but have in no way even started. that's mostly green with some wine/gold/various shades of sage paisley. i might take some paper and patterns and fiddle with them when i go to a wedding in a few weeks. taking a week off work to finalise stuff for the other cm wedding

Sounds like fun.  It's been a long time since i actually finished a quilt - age 14.  i currently have a basic squares one started.  The layout of 9 colors is based on a Sudoku puzzle.  i know i'm weird....

i have Sudoku puzzles in the bathroom instead of magazines.  Often i go down to the apartment office/community room and do the puzzles in the newspaper each day.

Are you and the Ms doing anything interesting today?

i'm trying to lose weight, too, Hanable.
This week i'm trying to increase my water/liquid intake.  i'm trying to get to 1 gallon a day.  i'm using Splenda for the sweetened drinks.  No carbonated drinks, either.  i know it sounds boring but it seems to help.

Are you still eating whole containers of icing?  Try substituting raisins or grapes when you want something sweet.

When you want a sugary soda, try a bottle of water by itself or with a Crystal Light "On the Go" lemonade flavor packet.  (There are other flavors, too.)

When you get hungry between meals try taking a walk before getting a snack.

i have to lose a total of 100 pounds and in 1 year i lost 40 pounds.  That's less than 1 pound a week.  That seems aweful slow but i've kept it off.   Now to lose the other 60 pounds.  i would like to lose it quicker, but it will take another year or two.

Thanks, Sunshine.  It's sooooo slow.  But when it goes up it only goes up a couple of pounds and i can overcome that within a day or two.  How are you doing with eating healthier?
