So. . . I am supposed to be going out for coffee in about 15 minutes. The other-half's friend that owns a game store called to say there was an emergancy at the store, and could he come down. Okay, fine. No problem, I can just take Butterhead with me.

And so it begins.

She refuses to nap. Now, I was going to get myself ready while she was napping. Never leave a toddler alone. So. . . finally I stuck her in the crib anyway so that I could shower. Then I put her in my room while I dressed and brushed my hair and such. WHAT WAS I THINKING?

Everything on the dresser became fair game for her. *sigh* So I get myself ready and I do not notice ALL of the things that she has pulled off my dresser.

I take her to her room to change her outfit into something clean. I get her undressed. Soon I am chasing her through the house, she is starkers with a bottle of lube in one hand and a travel-toothbrush in the other, laughing like a maniac.

I do catch her. And FINALLY get her into clothing, despite her doing the chicken dance in front of the mirror. Then as I go to put her pink-converse tennis shoes on, she wants to play with the samuri-sword. So, while trying to tye these little shoes, I am being smacked with the samuri-sword.

Now. . . since someone is coming over, I wanted to pick up the front room a bit. She was less than helpful. In frustration, I fixed her a tray of her favorite snacks and popped her into the highchair. So. . . I got the toys mostly picked up.

Of course, now I feel almost too tired to go for coffee. *sigh*

I'm not gonna lie to you at all, Aylee...I'll admit to laughing...as soon as I get the paper towels for the monitor......and the cat.......

So, I think I've made somewhat of a decision...I'm going to leave here and head east.....but now I have to figure out where! I'm looking for someplace with a lower cost of living to make my $$ stretch a bit further...somewhere in the southeast. At least I'll be in the neightborhood of the applications I have floating out there to get to tthe interviews. I can't live on what I'm going to be making here, any more paycuts, and I'm in a pickle. I stared at about $15 an hour, in less than 8 months, I'm down to $8.64 an hour. And we still don't know if we're going to get hit with any layoffs. I just can't take the uncertainty anymore. I found out that the loss of our shift differential was a decision made by our command, NOT the state....and that our two highest paid bosses have yet to take ANY type of pay cut! In fact, they got raises two years ago when no one else did. Morale at the place sucks, and it's only going to get worse.

So, it'll probably be a month for me to get things settled, give notice and pack everything up.......and then it's "here we go again!". I know I'll make it, it's just a pain to start it all over again. And this time I have 4 cats to haul with me.....hafta get some drugs for them....altho, they weren't too bad after the first day on the ride out. As long as they could see out the window...and I'll be using a rental moving truck, so I'll have more room in the cab.

I'm thinking Florida or Alabama......wish me luck!

Yes, Aylee, and of course, trying to get ready in the winter....inevitably, you get the kid bundled up, and they have to pee......

And don't even get me going on the whole diaper bag thing......I used to feel like a damn pack mule!

And with my son, it wasn't a sword.....it was one of those stoopid squeaky hammers! My ex thought they'd be fun......couldn't figure out why they kept getting "lost" tho!

You'll do great wherever you end up, SoulSistah of mine. My vote would be Florida, there's more CM people to meet up with and have fun there but I hear Alabama is nice. The pay cuts suck - my goodness, that's a HUGE cut. I don't know how you've made it this far. Have you ever tried Rescue Remedy with your kittehs? Worked great with my furbabies in Idaho, I have yet to try it with Punky or Queenie, I kinda enjoy their little "quirks". Or there's really something called "Kitty Calms" or "Cat Calms", a homeopathic medicine for cats to help calm them down. It also works. Rescue Remedy (By Bach) is a floral essence and is suitable for use by humans or animals. I always had one bottle for me and one for the kittehs.....

Holly, you forgot the stroller, the car seat, (had two cars...it usually stayed in mine, but every so often, you have to move it!), the blankee, and the soon-to-be spilled sippy cup. And THAT was just for a trip to the grocery store!

My ex used to whine when I'd leave the kid home or drop him at day care when I ran errands, until one day, HE did the errand w/kid thing.......after that, he just wouldn't do it.....he'd drop him off EVERY time. Coward!

ooo....the "Mommy dance"!!! It occurs when you mash your fingers in the stroller as you try to fold it and hoist it into the trunk. Said Mommy will dance around in the parking lot, holding her smashed fingers and and trying not to bellow the cuss words the kid will surely repeat.
