Well, cuz it's not just matter, it's also energy, & thus it's wave forms & probability fields . . . . & that's made all the 'hard science' people unhappy, cuz a probability density function is not 'hard', it's rather 'fuzzy' . . . . . Heisenberg's uncertainty principle & Schroedinger's cat & those pesky two-slot experiments have fucked with the ability to see the universe as founded on hard materialist fundamentals. Quarks have turned out to be as quirky as their names . . . .
