Status: offline 		Mornin' all.....oops, I mean afternoon all......well, at the risk of jinxing it, it would appear that I am settling in Jacksonville.  I spoke to the woman there this am, she said my packet had to go to Tallahassee and it usually took about 10 days for them to process it, and that she'd be calling me with a start date.  I'm waiting for the happy dance until I have the official piece of paper in my hot little hand!

And I just got done doing something I haven't done in at least 5 years!  I got caught in the rain!  Forutnately, I just made it home before the really hard stuff was coming down....I was on my bike, not Sunshine....it's so great to be able to ride it without frying to a crisp!  But the mall here isn't very bike friendly...they don't have any bike racks....I lock it to a bench....I guess I got used to it in Phoenix.  At least the buses have the bike racks too......between that and Sunshine, it'll work til I find a car.

Status: offline 		I know, Zephyr, but there are benches all over the place....it's actually a beautifully landscaped mall here.  And huge.....it's got all sorts of specialty stores, and alot of the big chain stores too.  And I found a nail salon like no other.....my nails are really excellent!  They don't look all big and clunky or crooked like most places give me.....so no matter where I'll end up at, I'll be coming back to this place for my nails.....I gave the dude a $30 tip, and I've never left that much before!  He thought I was paying for my nails, I had to tell him twice that it was for him......I guess he's not used to getting that much.

Status: offline 		Jacksonville is a beautiful city at night. When standing on the west side of the river near the Main Street bridge looking towards the Jacksonville Landing, it's very pretty with the city's lights reflecting off the waters of the river. When on the Landing side of the river looking west, one catches the reflections of that half of the cities' buildings and walkways.

The climate is the best I've found in Florida. It has its cold moments (briefly) and tropical moments (many more), but I went four months without having to raise the roof on my Jeep. Many days of '80s, a few in the '90s, but hardly any in the triple digits. (Unlike the desert ridge I'm living on now).

It was a fun place to live.

Status: offline 		Soul, why not call the mall, tell them how much you like it and suggest they get a bike rack. These days with customers staying away, a comment telling them why you don't come so much will carry more weight.

Status: offline 		Ahhhh the "make the kid run til he/she drops" method. The only problem with that is that it exhausts the adult too.

Maggie is a very small 3 month old kitten. The great thing about that is she is too small to reach anything destroyable.
