OK, I hate it when I have to close the curtain on a friendship (for at least the time-being) because he has pissed me off yet again. Today's irritation: My ex played a joke on me by writing me a check for one penny over the amount I needed to pay on an invoice. When he gave me the check, he said, "Never say I didn't go above and beyond what you asked for at least once." I told my friend about the ex's little prank, and he said, "That's stupid, he's an idiot." I didn't like that and said, "Um, no, that's how we play around with one another... I think it's funny." I could hear his eyes rolling over the phone and this disgusted heavy sigh. I tried to let it go, but it has pissed me off all evening. I may be divorced, but the ex and I are still decent friends, and no one calls my friends names or acts like they are inferior in some way... without me getting redheaded and bitchy. The other irksome things he has done is to cut me off when I'm speaking about DB (whom he knows very well), and change the subject; and try to get me to check in with him constantly to make sure that I'm "ok"... ummm, hello, I'm a grown woman and I answer only to DB, my Dad, and my kids. I've told him that point blank. I've also told him that it comes across as being jealous and juvenile to dismiss my conversations about DB, especially since (hellllooooo) my friend is married and knows that I'm not interested in him in any way, shape, or form. So, to quote Linea and Kali... some folks just don't get "subtle." Therefore, I texted him and said I think I need to cease contact for the timebeing. I swear to gary, this afternoon, I just wanted to punch him dead in the face. When I told DB, He laughed and said, "Go ahead, baby... do what you do."
