Mine hurt... never did swell up... was a bit unstable after walking on it for a while... it was torn half-way.

These are atheletes in damn good shape, with strong muscle tone... i would expect them to be able to walk around, but not play, or be able to move laterally.

Its best we wait till the MRI results are in before making assumptions.

I had a small tear in mine too. Minimal swelling, plenty of pain/discomfort, but I could stand and walk a little bit on it.

Roethlisberger is like Jason from Friday the 13th, he never goes away and has problems with women.

The JETS had a chance, but the sack-fumble-TD was the difference. You have to protect the ball on that side of the field v. the Steelers in their stadium, because its a bermuda triangle.

I give credit to the greenies for making it a game when it could have been an embarrassment.

The difference was horrible play calling with 2d and goal from the 2 or so. If you cant put it over from the 2 with three rushing plays you dont deserve to be in the SB. They had the defensive line on their heels that whole drive and too much can go wrong passing.

At todays press conference, Lovie called it a sprained MCL. As I understand it a sprain is a small tear. The MCL is responsible for knee satiability more than the ACL. He started the 2nd half against medical and coaches advice.

All of the DUMB ASS Bear fans in this town calling him a pussy are a national embarrassment.

You can argue that he had a shitty game. You can say he is not a first class Quarterback.

The man has been sacked 100 times in two years. He has second class receivers and a forth class offensive line.

He is not however a quitter or a coward.

Nicely and succinctly put :)

100 times in 2 years? FFS! You'd think he'd be a puddle of mush by now.

lol ... point of order though, Mr Speaker - I wasn't one of the ones calling him such. Quite the reverse!

I think you know that, but I wanted to reiterate, just in case :)

LOL... Yep, I'm superstitous about my football. The week we got our ass handed to us by Cleveland I pulled out my old Branch jersey from before his trade and wore it. Bad... very bad mojo... wearing the old jersey with old number of a player. Packed it up and never wore it the rest of the season. I wore the same Patriots shirt for every game thereafter. My sister and I jokingly lit a special candle the week after the Cleveland loss and we won... that candle was lit and in the exact same spot each week thereafter. I have plenty of other silly things I do.

But you go ahead and wave that thing. Tempt the football gods. Jinx your team on the biggest day of their season. Toss caution to the wind. I will pray for you and your wanton and destructive ways.

I did make a post last week, asking about people's superstitions, but i accept that I'm something of a windbag, and my posts occasionally way too long, so I'm not surprised you missed it :)

But thanks for that story, especially the candle, it’s great :)

You see this?

V V V V V V V V V V V V V V V V V V V V V V V V V V V

That's me flicking vees at the monitor :)

You utter rotter - you're just trying to jinx my towel! My lovely new, fluffy, very yellow towel. What a cruel thing to do.

(It won't work - even if we lose I'm still keeping it - I refuse to be a slave to superstition!)

Sports fans are idiots, the same brand of nut jobs who enjoy right wing talk radio.

Baltimore's radio channels and messsage boards are filled with catastrophizers who'd like to run Joe Flacco out of town because of the team's second half meltdown versus the Steelers. Fan vitriol devoid of football acumen is akin to an infant crying in the night who just needs to let it out because mamma took his blanket away to wash it.

Adults know to be patient.

Did you see how Katylied declared Bill Cowher "dead to her" because as a football analyst for CBS he picked the NYJ to win. Fans are crazy. Its part of their charm. Its why, even as a Ravens fan, I try to stay on Katy's good side.

This is false, because the NYJ turned that problem into nine quick points with a safety and a TD.

A sprained MCL usually means out for 4 to 6 weeks.

I think he was hurt earlier.  Not being able to plant that foot explains why some of those passes fluttered off the way they did.

The Steelers do not win every season.  And as shocking as this may seem to you, their fans pick teams from what is left and root for them and hope for better next year.  Maybe they are quiet because they have some dignity.  It's easy to be that way when you have a solid team with solid ownership.  Instead of teams being jealous of the premier franchises, they should study them and learn something.

Jay Cutler is not a pussy.  He was one of, if not the most abused QB this season.  I don't recall him whining or complaining about his o-line.  Some NFL analysts were saying that part of the Cutler problem is that he is not a good soundbite interview and is not as personable as others and this attitude hurts him.  Obviously, telling from some of yesterday's tweets, he is not exactly well-loved by his peers. I had no idea that was going on.

If you look at that link I posted, he's on the end of it, and when questioned about not playing on, just says "no comment".

It might not be soundbite friendly, but IMHO it's a fuck-sight classier than him shooting his mouth off trying to justify himself when he had no need to.

Like I said, if Mr Urlacher thinks you're tough enough then you're probably tough enough.

These guys are pros, and any NFL starting quarterback (even the worst) is going to be a) talented, b) determined, and c) well used to soaking up punishment. I'd also suggest that, given the armoury of meds available to NFL medical staff, that if a player is deemed unfit to play he's probably seriously unfit to play.
