Boscox you will be happy for England. Think of Reform is like Maga, and Conservative party is sort of like the GOP.

About 1/3 of English Council seats are up for grabs. They use First Past the Post system because they are backward idiots. UK used to be a sort of two party system is best way I can explain.

Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland are having out Parliament Elections those results will come later. We three don't use first past the post system. Not sure about the latter 2 whether they have PR. Scotland isnt PR but we use

How are voters in Scotland represented in the Scottish Parliament?
Quick version
MSPs are chosen for the Scottish Parliament using an electoral system called the Additional Member System (AMS).

AMS is a form of proportional representation

voters record two votes:

one for a Constituency MSP
one for a Regional MSP
There are 129 MSPs altogether:

73 constituency MSPs
56 additional regional MSPs (7 per region)
Elections to Scottish local government (councils) use an electoral system called the Single Transferable Vote (STV):

for STV council areas are divided into wards
each ward elects three or four councillors
each voter has more than one vote

You can vote in all the above 16+ in scotland which makes 100% sense. England its 18 plus

Bonkers the UK doesn't use PR - UK parliament elections us three nations forced to use englands rule.

Hopefully the UK parliament will finally abolish first past to post system for next election. I expect they will because UK being a 2 party systems are gone.

2024 election labour recived 24% of the vote yet won 66% of all seats. Bonkers.

That is a good post, I found it extremely informative. So, Keir Starmer’s Labour Party is taking heavy losses across England, while Nigel Farage’s Reform UK is the big winner.

Has power shifted significantly enough to affect the lives of everyday citizens? If so, what changes can we expect to see?

If an election were held tomorrow in the UK (scotland england NI Wales) tomorrow Reform would win. Its how UK is set up but be aware the Biggest Parties in the three smaller countries are our Nationalist Parties (SNP in scotland Scottish nationalist party, - Plaid Cymru Wales, Sinn Féin Nothern Ireland.)

England has 5-6 times the population of the other three nations so in a UK election England holds us to their will.

Reform UK are currently leading and sit around 28% in UK. But the UK operates first past the post UK election so they might not get 20 seats but could get 400 seats.

Boscox you can think of Reform UK as a little like Maga. Conservative (tory) party think of them like the GOP.

UK 2 party system is dead. Good riddance I say. UK has to switch to PR is my hope. (3 smaller nations yes we run a form of PR but only in our own elections and you can vote at 16+ too)

Reform UK gained around 1500 council seats from 5000-ish, 1/3 of england had council election. First past the post they operate in them too.

Council elections think of them as a little like your state elections and the next level below them whatever that is called.

Reform, yes gained a lot. up +1500 seats
