Homeland Security funds beef up forces, but some don't like the message

i htink i shouold point out this is a little misleading.

Just like the school systems have to conform to the declining educational values of federal control, thus getting these vhicles from HLS is the same arrangement where the feds now have control over the state security programs thus the state has to conform to fed control etc... read it carefully

I think it is, they actually had one here temporarily, at least I haven't seen it lately. And it made me feel sick that they'd think it would be appropriate to drive the equivalent of a tank around a rural town of 8000, that has as near zero percent chance of a riot occuring, or terrorist attack.

It disturbs me greatly seeing the slow militarization of the police force. I can imagine the mistrust these vehicles must cause in the areas they are seen regularly.

I can't remember seeing police in armoured cars the couple of times I visited Soviet Ruusia.

Hmm Maybe Ladas could be described as armoured cars. They were built like tanks, they didn't go very fast and should they hit a wall, the wall suffered most.

Soweto is in South Africa, not Russia.

I know but everyone accused Soviet Russia of being a police state, even present Russia, I thought I would just chip in I never saw police armoured cars there even.

Yup you and a lot of other people who have actually been exposed to it!

If you want to see those mythical black un heliocopters take a little drive around northern wisconsin sometime...  They are putting something together!

Frankly it paints a pretty sorry picture imo.
