ansfrid -> fet wear = normal clothes? (5/9/2005 6:55:13 PM)

For me, fet wear is a clean pair of jeans, a simple black shirt, and a nice, sharp, comfortable jacket. That's me. I really prefer clothes that I feel strong and comfortable in, and above all, natural. I find traditional fet wear sort of a costume, in essence, not me (not disparaging fet wear here, just personal preference). I'm all about feeling like I am not putting on an act. I have no trouble with this really, *except* when there is a party, or setting where fet wear is required. I have never been refused entry or anything, but I can't help but wonder whether people feel I am not even trying.

I am trying to ponder ways of communicating the fact that this *is* my preferred look, and I *did* dress this way on purpose as my fet outfit. I would like to get a pair of leather pants someday, but that as fet-like as I tend to get. Any ideas on how to communicate the point that I am dressed appropriately...for me? Should I even care what anyone thinks?

Who cares what anyone else thinks. You should be comfortable right? For me fetish wear is anything latex. I like the feel. I also like the sweat I get out of it...almost like a sauna over a long evening.
Everyone has their own tastes.

How about getting a t-shirt, button or name badge made proclaiming "vanilla clothes are my fetish!"

LOL I've already told people what my halloween costume will be:

blue jeans
sneakers
(both things you NEVER see me wear to a fetish club or party)
white t-shirt that says
"Straight Monogamous Vanilla"

Fetish is more a feeling than a "thing." I was going to wear a formal gown to a play party last weekend and my roommate just kinda looked at me weird, asked if I was going to play. I said of course I'm going to play! He just looked at me confused for a few seconds. I said It DOES come off you know.

He just doesn't get how you can feel fetishy and get into things unless its black/red latex/leather. For me, costuming is a huge part of being in the scene.

One of my best outfits (that I can't WAIT to wear again since it's warm now) is an all-white cotton party dress, white satin sandals, white satin garden gloves, a matching purse and old style sunglasses. It sure is awesome for ME.

As long as an invitation does not say "black only" or "fetish only" or "formal only" then you can wear whatever you want. Scenes are heavy exertion, no matter what I wear I generally get naked when I play so I don't get all sweaty and mess up what I'm wearing. Tshirt and jeans makes sense to me.
