psychologists have tried in the past to "out me under" only to fail miserably. i think i'm immune.

could hypnosis help with my spelling ????
English is my second language and I even so I can spell most, I know usually when I misspell them and It really makes me feel ..well you know.......
And I think my grammar could use some help too ........
well I thought I'll ask ....
OK OK
here is another thought
what do you as a top ( I assume) get out of it putting anybody under ???
is it a power trip kinda thing ??  like knife play ?? ( which I must admit I have problems understanding too)  yes I have trust issues soo who doesn't ??
What is it that drew you to it ????

I considered going to school to become certified in hypnosis. For me,  it can mean  a way of communication that goes directly to the subconscious, bypassing all the filters and defense mechanisms. It can also mean stage acts (I couldnt do it, but have laughed uproariously at some).

Harley:
1) Don't know if it can help with your spelling, but it can help with learning experience, and how well you retain information.  If you think about it, you remember everything you learn, it's just that you may not be able to access those memories because of stress and the like, so hypnosis has helped with retaining and reusing information you've learned.  Good thing to look into...
2) As a "top" (I prefer "dom," as I'll still have sex on the bottom in a way that is definately not submissive and enjoy it), I can get multiple things out of it.  As Wildnfree mentioned, it is direct communication, if you are comfortable enough and not intentionally keeping things secret, you can learn some interesting things while the subject is hypnotized, such as fantasies and the like (again, if they have to be secret in your mind, they will be).  Hypnosis can be used to suggest all sorts of things, if there's anything I want you to remember, it is this: your mind is the most sexual part of your body.
Sidenote: I do get a small bit of a power trip when someone is under solely for erotic stuff, but I keep it in check such that I'm a dom that keeps my subs interests in mind.  It's also good for loosening tension lol

Wildy:
Like I said above, I completely agree with the direct communication idea.  Depending on how technical you get, it may not be speaking directly to the subconscious, but there sure is a lot less "muck" in the way, you can just get clear answers or find out they're uncomfortable, in which case you avoid further questioning on that (or find another way around if you know they'd be alright with it, I tend to just avoid further questioning, as it's all about trust).
I wouldn't go and do stage acts professionally, not my thing, however with friends at parties I'll do it randomly, get a couple volunteers with various inductions, have a comedy show, people forgetting their first name (may not know their name, may think their middle name is their first, who knows?), forgetting the number 3 (2+1=4 apparently), and random stuff like that.  I have had people orgasm on "stage," but it was because they were having "martian sex," which was simply grinding foot against foot :p

Thank you Sir,
Now more then ever would I love to try it just once.......
Yes you have raised my interest in it .........

it's all in the power of the words or phrases you use.  i recently met a Dom from here who uses it for orgasm control ...he would ask a certain range of numbers (1 through 10)  to control hot and bothered i felt to completely shutting me down.  it was a mind blowing experience for me.

Reviving for at least a short while, I feel some interesting discussion can still be had...

You're not the only one. I did hear some kind of thing where a percentage of folks are unable to be hypnotized.

I've tried self-hypnotization, but that didn't work, and I've had a few therapists try it only to get the same kind of results, so I'm curious to see if I can actually be hypnotized or if it's all a crock of bull.

Hmm, it's possible, and the thought of it possibly being a crock of bull doesn't help one's willingness to try, but I understand the sentiment.

If you'd like to talk to me some time, see if I'm capable or not, feel free.  I know a couple various methods of induction, so you may be surprised at what a change of pace from what you're used to can do.
