I've heard some toothpastes can cause a burning sensation when applied to "sensitive" areas. Does anyone have any experience with this? I've experienced Icy Hot/BenGay applied to the penis, (I doubt toothpaste would be as strong), but am afraid to use such items anally for fear that they could actually cause chemical burns to membranes (is that an valid concern?) Is toothpaste safe for something like lubing a buttplug? Would appreciate any info on the subject. Thank you.

No, toothpaste isn't safe. I do know that when inserted into the vagina, it can cause a really bad infection. I have also had it inserted into my bottom, via a buttplug, and that was fine, but man...did it burn, it didn't seem to burn anything inside of me, but I will still do some more research on it and get some more advise from others.

Cinnamon/mint/shilling type oils are definitely burning, I wouldn't want to insert toothpaste into a vagina due to the sugars, but it's fine for topical use.

Try using ginger root for anal play.

Of course this is a valid concern!

A good rule of thumb is to not put anything into orifices that you wouldn't swallow. Would you swallow toothpaste? Probably not. Will it kill you? Probably not. Is it recommended? Eh there are better things that can bring you a burning sensation.

First I would not put Ben Gay on anything you inserted or could get into your body. For instance the warning tells you not to get it into your eyes. If things have such a warning - don't put them in you.

Stick to natural substances, that are edible. Try your local candy store for flavors like cinamon, pepermint, wintergreen. You may also want to try a chinese marked - they may have some peppers that I'm sure the oil would give you a burning sensation. Ginger roots can be cut and shaped into "hats" for your penis.

Strangely enough i did not have problems from Ben Gay in my pussy, but it did burn my anus. Nothing severe, but it hurt for several days. i second the ginger root recommendation. [;)]

I've used Ben Gay as a butt plug lube with no problem, but it may not work for everyone.
