Yesterday I had a really bad day at work. It wasn't the people, just nothing went right. We've all had those days before. I left fifteen minutes early, and that wasn't enough. I was overwhelmed. I am a company Man in some ways.
Traffic sucked, normally it does not, but it did. I got to the store to get some beer and smokes, made my purchases and walked out the door.
Well a car of a similar color, with the same type door handles parked between me and my car. I'm not saying there is anything wrong with this, but.......
Not thinking I got into that car instead of mine. This is not funny because if I saw that I would be on somebody's case really bad, but here it was me doing it. I got in the car with the case of beer flinging it to the passenger seat, I wondered who put my pimp rest up ! A glint of light hit my eye. My visual accuity is poor but there is nothing wrong with my peripheral vision.
I looked in the back seat and saw a window fan. I had let my buddy use my car last night for a quick store run, so I am thinking did he bum me a fan off asomeone ? I do live upstairs.
But then I looked in front. Where is my mess ? Where are the butts, cans, cigarette packs ?
At that point I realized I was i the worng car, I thought OH SHIT. Of course I got out as quick as possible, and I simply went to my car and went home. Glad I didn't drop a lighter in there or something, could you see it "Maam, you don't know it, but I was having a bad day and left my lighter in your car". Yeah right. I doubt she would say "Well if you want to check it OK". Conversely, the car could have been owned by a football player with pecs and teks.
Could have been a big mess, we are talking the city here. Would be a shame, that place has the lowest smokes and beer prices around, oh wait, that would be my blood messing up their parking lot.
This was a similar car, I think a 98 or something, same door handles, or I would've noticed that difference right away, door opened the same. I can't believe I didn't notice the different color seats, that I was putting my beer down on !
And looking in the back and wondering who gave me a fan, that is what cracks me up. And NO I did not take it. I don't take things. But what a trip. How would the owner of that car know that ?
Really if the shit hit the fan the people who work at the store would come to bat for me, I'm just glad this whole pain in the ass didn't happen.
But I just have to chuckle a bit because I was about to the point where I was going to sit down and put my key in the ignition, really. Almost. What if there was a kid in the back, would I think 'where the hell did I get this ?'.
Remember I was totally straight. Just off of work. If you can call that.......I mean I was not on alcohol or any type of intoxicant, I don't know if you can call my state when I leave work straight. Especially not now.
Anyway I kinda gave myself a laugh, just thought I would share it. I know it could have turned real ugly real fast, but it didn't.
