pinksugarsub -> Tattoos or Piercings for Uncollared ppl (5/18/2007 4:58:16 AM)

i have been debating getting a tattoo and maybe piercings (in my ears).  However, i have spoken to Doms who want a "blank canvas"; usually because they want Their mark to be the only one (or cause They dun like tattoos or piercings).

anyone got advice?

Aileen68 -> RE: Tattoos or Piercings for Uncollared ppl (5/18/2007 5:02:45 AM)

Unless the tattoo that you want to get is related to being owned by a specific person, then I think you should get any tattoo or piercing that you like.  It's your body.

mstrjx -> RE: Tattoos or Piercings for Uncollared ppl (5/18/2007 5:08:07 AM)

The 'simple' advice is that right now you can do whatever you want.

Any 'future' (read, unknown) Dom/Master/Mistress would have to understand or be told what markings there are before them.  Then it is their decision whether any prior markings are relevant.

I can say I 'prefer' a woman without tattoos, but that's a personal preference.  That none of my prior partners has had tattoos is more happenstance than a calculated measure on my part.

Would I take on a partner that had the ubiquitous phrase 'Kilroy was here' emblazoned (in several-inch script) somewhere upon her body?  I guess that depends on who 'she' is.  But depending on what type of mark might have an indication of her and her character.  Clues.

It's all a value judgement.  Right now, the only values that matter are yours.

I would say if your uncollared that its your body, do what you want to with it. If and when you meet the right Dom, he would have to accept you as you are. Be up front and tell him that you like tattoos and piercings, if he can't handle it then he isn't the Dom for you.

when i met Sir, i had five tattoos.  i got one more while he and i were still "talking about it" but he knew full well i had planned it, and although he didnt specifically approve it, he did like the design i had chosen.

i had nipple piercings in the past and we'd talked about getting them redone...but i think i dont wish that any longer.  that's *my* choice.

Sir doesnt mind me not being a "blank canvas"...in fact he teases me about one of my tattoos quite a bit.  its a large-ish round celtic knot on my low back, roughly the size of a softball....but since the knot twists itself into the semblance of 4 triangles, he laughingly refers to it as my "celtic personal pan pizza"....mainly to get my feathers ruffled.  *smiles*

none of my tattoos are huge.  in fact, wearing a knee length nightshirt and only one of them shows...its on my wrist and rather unobtrusive in its own.  and the only piercings i have at the moment are for earrings, and although those are multiple, they arent audacious.  they suit *me*.

as mstrjx has said, at this moment you belong to only yourself.  you might remember, though, that someone will be viewing your art/piercings, and while the piercings can be retired, tis very difficult to completely remove a tattoo.

kitten, who has a couple of memorial tattoos which dont look like memorials, but Sir knows the reasons behind them

MamaDomme -> RE: Tattoos or Piercings for Uncollared ppl (5/18/2007 5:36:59 AM)

pinksugar, as others have already stated-- right now your body is yours to do with as you wish.  You need to follow your heart's desires.

and a side note to mstrjx--  I think someone that had a kilroy tat would (small one tho) certainly get bonus chuckles from me!  It would remind me of my teen years when the kilroy thing was so popular everywhere.  ~~~smiles

KatyLied -> RE: Tattoos or Piercings for Uncollared ppl (5/18/2007 5:39:29 AM)

If you want piercings or tattoos get them.  Why hold off on something you desire because some unknown person in the future may not like it?  There's also a chance that some unknown person in the future will like it.  I don't have tats, but many who do get them do so as something symbolic.  No one can take that away from you.  I would not plan my life with the conisderation of what some unknown dom may or may not like.

beargonewild -> RE: Tattoos or Piercings for Uncollared ppl (5/18/2007 6:17:37 AM)

Plain and simple, if you desire to get a tattoo and/or ears pierced then do so. I will assume that you aren't claimed by a "Dom" then what you do with your body in this respect is according to how you see fit. A Dom who is right for you and your needs won't have issues with your body art and will accept you as a person and not because you have or don't have tatts or piercings.

SimplyMichael -> RE: Tattoos or Piercings for Uncollared ppl (5/18/2007 6:53:46 AM)

I find tattoos always look like crap after a few years and in general don't like them.  Peircings to me are quite hot and have the added advantage of healing up if you take them out, some more readily than others but for many they have a very large physchological impact which is just one of the reasons I love them.

Do what pleases you and stop worrying about those who have no rights to be telling you what you can and can not do.

I've just realized that you've kind of covered this topic before when you used another nic.

My advice would be is that if your goal is to be someone's submissive or to be owned by someone then the only piercing you get is in your ears (and just one, not a multitude).

ITS your body,do as you wish. Most doms leave your past there in  the past.I have a broken arrow tat as a ownership tat only 5 women have ever wore it..Some men are picky but most Dom's accept tats as long as they were NOT past ownership tats,,bounty

Indemnis -> RE: Tattoos or Piercings for Uncollared ppl (5/18/2007 9:23:48 AM)

Fast reply agreeing with Fleurs..
You're entering the lifestyle and knowing what sort of stuff you're in for.  Hold off on tats/piercings 'til you find your special someone.  :)
I ended up taking out my eyebrow ring and holding off on tats for my search.  Nothing to do with it being "my body" or anything like that so much as I knew I was likely to meet a D who would want to mark me up as his.
Again, though... it all comes down to personal preferance.  I am in no real hurry to sit through 14 hours of that *really* annoying pain (I hear it's a bit like getting a cigarette butt held to your skin) on my own, no matter how much I love body art... so I am in a position to hold off with ease.  If it's something you *really* desire, then go for it!

littleone35 -> RE: Tattoos or Piercings for Uncollared ppl (5/18/2007 10:22:56 AM)

You are not owned so it YOUR body to do with as you please.  I mean i would like to get a tiger tattoo but Master does not like body art so i am not getting one.  The point i am making that until you are owned you can do whatever you want to your body.

lilbitshy -> RE: Tattoos or Piercings for Uncollared ppl (5/18/2007 10:46:58 AM)

I personally don't see such a big deal with getting your ears pierced. Mine are done twice in each ear. Suprises people because I am a rather quiet unintrusive person and not the type to get two sets. As for the tattoo, I've debated one myself, again, to do something unusual for me, but have yet to come to a decision. I agree with most people here that as long as you are uncollared/unowned you do what makes you happy. The thing I think to consider is is this something that years from now you will still be glad to have had done.

LuckyAlbatross -> RE: Tattoos or Piercings for Uncollared ppl (5/18/2007 11:30:02 AM)

Never live your life on what a possible future person might or might not think about something.  You'll go crazy.

And you'll never be happy until you make the choices you know to be right for YOU, no matter what anyone else says or thinks.

junecleaver -> RE: Tattoos or Piercings for Uncollared ppl (5/18/2007 11:56:01 AM)

This is how I've always thought of it...

I didn't want to necessarily go into a relationship as blank tablet, but I wanted to be flexible and I wanted to be molded in ways that pleased my partner.  I tried to avoid permanent marks on my life---both physical, emotional, and mental.  If I had not met my partner within the next few years, maybe I would have abandoned this philosophy.  It worked for me.  My partner doesn't like tattoos.  He generally doesn't like piercings, but says mine are 'tastefully' done, so I get to keep them.

Piercings are relatively cheap to remove.  You just take the jewelry out.  Tattoos are a lot more expensive to both get and remove.

If you want a body mod, I would recommend a piercing.

pinksugarsub -> RE: Tattoos or Piercings for Uncollared ppl (5/18/2007 12:06:21 PM)

i didn't realise that getting a tattoo would hurt "like a cigarette burn" or that it wouldn't look the same in a few years' time.  TY for telling me; i'm no longer interested in a tattoo.

If i can afford it i may get my ears double pierced; and i think i want the 2nd piercings at the tips (tops) of my ears, just to be a lil different.  This does require some thought, as it has been my experience that ear piercings do not close if you just take out the earrings.

TY for all the great advice.

Depends.  Go talk to a professional.
