Ladies:

Apparently, the FDA has approved of this oral contraceptive that will be used the suppress the monthly menstural cycles indefinitely.

I would appreciate any comments and feedback.  Would any of you be willing to take this drug?

The pill I am on at the moment gives me 3-4 days of light bleeding a month which is so easy to manage I doubt that I'd bother taking one continuously to avoid it.

I like being able to know exactly when I am due and if I need to change the day it starts it's pretty easy to do by shuffling the sugar pills a few days either way. I also get tender breasts in the last week of pill taking - I wonder what that would be like if I was taking a pill continuously. The breakthrough bleeding could be a problem too. I know someone using an implant which is supposed to suppress her periods but she spots all the time which would drive me crazy!

nope, not gonna try it.  too many health risks for OCD's.  I'd rather bleed heavily for two hole weeks a month than wind up 50 pounds heavier, with acne, and a stroke.  I'm paranoid and I don't trust them.

My doctor informed me that contraceptive pills were originally made with the break, simply because it was discussed in the way-back that people would not be comfortable with not having a monthly bleed, which is why you can take them without a break and cease periods in a similar way to Lybrel apart from the placebo effect tha  Prog only Pills (mini) work - without a break and many women do not have periods with those anyway.

I would take it if I was under 35, but not if I was a smoker.
Peace

I'm fixed so I have no cycle now.
If I still had a womb I'd not feel it's healthy to not allow that lining to slough off every month like my Creator designed it to do.
I'd be very concerned it would throw off my hormones.

Lybrel doesn't allow the lining to form. They were adressing that on the news last night.

If I could take BCs, you betcha I'd be doing this. My periods are miserable. I get a backache that nothing but a heating pad will touch. It's hard to function when they hit.

I absolutely would! Haven't read the side-effects though (no offence to the OP, I'm on my way to bed & can't give myself any more excuses to stay up...my body clock is a mess!! Promise I'll read it tomorrow )...I forget birth control pills really give any problems, because I take Yasmin, which is great for no s/effects. I often take it from one pack straight to the next to get the same effect anyway. However, I saw a homoeopath late last year & she said I shouldn't, because the body takes all opportunities it can to flush out toxins, so if you stop your mentruating, you're shutting off an option for it.....so, I have tended to be a bit better behaved about that since! Maybe something to keep in mind

Considering that when you are on the pill or those other drugs you don't get a 'real' period {I can't remember the medical term for it}, I don't see what the big deal is. If you don't want to 'bleed' and you are on oral contraceptives, just ONLY take the active pills, eay. That info has been around for years. If you are migraine prone, its not a smart idea though, the extra estrogen can make migraines a LOT worse.

I stopped ALL bc, and I am doing great. No migraines, no m/d episodes, light periods. Of course, I also don't have a regular partner, if I did, I still would not go on bc again, it screwed up my system.

Greetings

i certainly would Not take this.

i'm one of those people who constantly wonder what the birth control i'm taking is doing to my reproductive organs and exactly what good a chance i'll have in the future of actually conceiving if that happens to be an option for me. If i've so drastically altered my body cycles with birth control that i can't conceive if my Master decides He wants to put a baby in my belly, then i would feel very bad indeed!

i'll stick with Ortho TriCyclen. It works and won't leave me worried i'll not be able to conceive again someday.

Well wishes

Thank you for all of your opinions.  I have had a history of not having normal periods when I was 13 years old and was placed on birth control pills.  I am still on this because of having fibroids (I suppose that is normal for a woman of my age).  I am on Necon and that has helped me tremondously; however, this is a Catch-22 because part of me does not want to be on this type of medication because of its side effects..
