WIth the boys I own, 2 of them now, neither of them approached it the same way.  To assume there is a way to train a save to be appealing to ALL owners is just crazy.  What I might like and what anyone else might is completely different.  Hell, what I like in one boy and the other are completely different.  I think Id resent the idea of someone getting trained to be acceptable to me, by being trained you are learning how to please SOMEONE ELSE. That means youl be an excelent slave, for them. That stil doesnt help you for me.

My 2 cents.

One of the best things about being a slave is being vulnerable, isn't it? It pays to learn from experience, and from making mistakes.

A slave who has learnt about her/his Mistress/Master's needs and style, would ideally be more valuable to the latter, than one who has been 'manufactured' in a slave factory!

As far as answering the question in the topic goes, slaves should ideally first identify to themselves, who they are and what they are available for. Only then should they start approaching prospective Owners through boards, forums, munches etc.

A helpful tip would be to stick to the naked truth, no matter how bitter it may seem. Truth can help in establishing great levels of trust among Owners and slaves, which in turn is a valuable ingredient for any D/s or M/s relationship.

Thereafter, it would depend on a lot of other factors, the most important being 'What the prospective Owner is looking for'. So, once a slave has opened out herself/himself to the prospective Owner, it would be most recommended to wait for results, rather than getting upset over failures of the past or 'hoping' for good results this time around.

It pays to be patient and to await our turn, rather than hurrying into submission and wasting others' time as well as our own!

My number one piece of advice for any slave seeking a master is to be honest and communicate.  Everything else boils down to how much of a bullshit one can put on to impress a prospective Master/Mistress/Dom/Domme.. whatever title you can hang upon it.  I am assuming that these are TPE slaves we are talking about and not PPE submissives right.

You gotta love it when your way of thinking is laid out before you.

One of the most important things for newbies is to read, read, read. Read books on BDSM, follow forums like this. You can learn a great deal of theoretical knowledge which will serve you in good stead when a potential relationship begins with a Master.

A training academy, like Roissy is a great fantasy, and completely unrealistic in reality. On the other hand there is this:

So I could be wrong.......

I think the only valuable thing a sub/slave should have as standard training feminisation so they can clutch their purse close.

oy vy!  phishing for more applicants to be certified as twue slaves?

after reading your crass and bias op, you are basically forgetting the most important thing about training - the special bond that is shared between a Master(or Dom) their slave(or submissive) and vice versa.  does your "academy" offer that along with the certificate?

What other suggestions and advice do you have for lost unowned slaves?

I recommend they avoid goofballs posing as trainers as a ploy to get into their pants.

There are good 'training' houses, events, and academies out there in real land.

The good ones, IMO, do not charge money (other then your own travel, hotel cost if needed and maybe a token food cost). They do not focus on detailed skills but more on the intellectual aspect.  They help the person, be it Dom or sub to analyze what they are looking for, why, and what things mean to them. It is NOT therapy.. More a reflective time.  Some skills might be taught but that is not the focus of the time there.

There are individuals who will take on a new person to give them a ‘taste’ of what it is like to be a sub or a slave, so the newbie will know better if that is what they want.

There a academies that bring several Dom or slaves together to teach different aspect of the lifestyle, the group guiding the direction of topics according to their interests and needs. There are retreats for both Masters and slave, there are events and conferences to learn from.

There are couples and family who “take on” a newbie to teach and guide them as they grow and learn, and tech some skills.

Often the skills are general to service. Yes each Dom likes to do the fine tuning of service and training but to say they don’t want a trained sub means they would only want a brand new person since we all learn from our past, including vanilla relationship.
Skills might be formal dinners, boot blacking, massage, cleaning and maintaining of toys and leather, general things.

I do not believe a Dom (worth his salt) would pick a sub based whether she can serve a formal dinner or not, or if she is an expert boot blacker. It should be based on personality and chemistry, common interests and goal. You are right that thing like personal service, positions, and protocols will be taught by the person who collars the sub or slave, but put simply, general skills can be an added perk.   My owner still sends me off to learn a skill to be of added benefit to Him.

I spent time and energy (and a little travel money) to seek out different people and places to learn about the lifestyle, explore where I fit in, what I liked and wanted, and to learn skills I felt would be helpful to me as a slave. I have never paid the person(s) directly but I have covered my own costs.

The OP might be setting things up as money making endeavor, which I personally feel is wrong, but training in general is not a bad thing.

Well stated, SirPain (post 14).  I concur.

I would like to address the term "slave", first.

As far as I can tell, anyone who is single, and calls themselves a slave, may be mis-informed as to how that name would apply to them.  How can a "single someone" be a slave(or dominant, for that matter) to............... no one?  Also, definitions of what a slave "is" would likely be vastly different amongst the more dominant people, and, maybe even more-so, the submissive people.  I understand that it is advantageous to state in your profile which way you lean, it helps the process of finding a partner.  Openly stating you are a slave(or Dominant, in any form) while communicating with the general public, appears to be "ego" boosting, somewhat, no?  It would make more sense, and maybe I am wrong, that "someone else" would hang a tag on you, as a sign of respect or knowing you personally and are deserving of such a tag, in their opinion.

I have been lead to believe that it takes a fair amount of trust between two(or more) people to let the dominant/submissive  dynamics take place.  I, personally, would be leary of anyone who says they trust me implicitly, upon first meeting(or 30th meeting).  Trust is built over time, and witnessed by each other.  So is dominance and submission.  It is "built" between the persons involved.

-avoid calling yourself a slave.  Let the people who know you, call you such names.
-show that you have the ability to learn.
-respect all people(use your judgment as to the level of respect)
-trust ..... yourself.
-show interest in a prospective dominate(how you do this up to you)
-have a general idea of what "every" prospective partner will require of you.  you guessed it, lots of research  ;-)

quote:

"What other suggestions and advice do you have for lost unowned slaves?"

-make yourself visible to potential partners.  I am referring to real life situations, here.  Hit all the bdsm, fetish nights, workshop events in your area.  None in your area?  have some friends over and gradually bring the conversation to some sort of bdsm activities/views, without scaring to many of guests, and get your own events happening with those that are at least "friendly" to your ideas.

I am unable to support any formal/informal online assistance that requires a fee.  If I feel the need for assistance, my peer group is there for me, and no fee is required and are more than willing to assist.

Travelino.

I think that's ridiculous.

I think the biggest barrier to finding your SO is figuring out exactly what you're looking for and figuring out exactly who you are.

So many in the D/s world, are in such a frenzy that they jump on the first person that shows them attention. Rather than stopping to figure out if that person fits their needs, wants and desires.

Training is subjective and what is desired will vary from Dominant to Dominant, so therefore you won't be able to figure out what's needed.

I suggest going to a slave training academy, such as Master Taino's, that has service and relationship components in addition to the BDSM. A good fuck does not a slave make.

To be honest, the WORST headache for a domme is "slaves" who have been "trained" by commercial services that cater to their fetishes and fantasies.  For the most part what they learn is that for money, "dominant" women will dress up in sexy clothes and "force" them to do exactly what they want to be "forced" to do.

Bleh. The best way to find an owner is to get to know people as people first.  Be interesting.  Be personable.  Be a generally cool and nifty person to get to know.  Have a personality and some interests to talk about that go beyond "hi Mistress i like foot fetish and stockings."   Treat potential dommes like human beings.  Be interested in them as people and not as objects for your fetish fulfillment.  Make friends in the BDSM community.  Go to Munches.  Relax and have some fun in life, and invite people you sincerely like and admire to join you on that journey.

Or hire a "slave trainer" for "training sessions" if you want instant fetish/fantasy gratification, but don't do it with the illusion that it will help you find a personal relationship.  It won't, and it could even hurt your chances if you "learn" the wrong lessons about how to relate to potential dommes.
