Looks like Iraq is finally headed somewhere, after more than 3,000 dead and tens of thousands of mutilated American soliders.  It's headed to a new century--the 10th century, that is.  Is this the "progress" that we're told the so-called Liberal media is covering up?  "Just give it a few more months...we have a new strategy--we're going to send thousands more Americans there to serve as targets in a civil and religious war.  It's bound to soak up at least a little of the excess ammunition in that part of the world!"

Some strategy.  And as to the people of Iraq: We don't owe them a darn thing imo.

Furor over vid of Kurds killing girl who loved Sunni

Saturday, May 5th 2007, 7:05 PM

Even young love is subject to murderous rules in Iraq these days.

Human rights advocates are outraged by a video that has hit the Internet showing a 17-year-old Kurdish girl being dragged out of a house and stoned to death because she loved a teenage boy of the wrong religion.

The killing of Dua Khalil Aswad in Bashika, a predominantly Kurdish town near Mosul, took place last month but became public with the release of the video.

It shows that it took the nine boys stoning Aswad 30 minutes to kill her, the Daily Mail reported yesterday.

A large crowd and members of a local Iraqi security force watched and did not intervene.

Aswad was a member of a minority Kurdish religious group called Yezidi. She was condemned to death by the men in her family and hard-line religious leaders because of her relationship with a Sunni Muslim boy.

The boy is in hiding in fear of his life, the Daily Mail reported.

According to the article, the Local Kurdish Gov, as well as the national Gov are publically condeming the crime and have arrested at least 2 of the perps, and intends to prosecute.  "Amnesty International, the human rights group, said it welcomed the Kurdish government's condmenation of the killing."

Small progress, but progress indeed

I was too lazy to cite the LA Times article because of the login requirement, but the crowd was numbered in the thousands.  Also, the local Iraqi police stood by and watched as the girl was slowly and brutally beaten to death...over a period of 30 minutes.

While shocking, that's the norm for certain parts of the Muslim world. It would be nice to introduce more Middle easterners to this century, wouldn't it. "Mr. 11th Century, meet 2007. 2007, Mr. 11th Century." "How do you do..."

Perhaps with the addition of freedom of the press, the introduction of the internet, and Democracy George Bush will help that meeting along in Iraq, even over the objections of the Left.

Generally, there isn't a consistent supply of ELECTRICITY and POTABLE WATER, so that Internet is going to be a LONG TIME coming....

But hey, KEEP REACHING FOR THAT DREAM!
