That flour / cocoa / boric acid stuff . . . . The flour / cocoa is what makes the roaches wanna 'interact' (in whatever way) with the borax . . . . . We'd make up a batch in a jar & apply so that there was no way for the roaches to travel about the apartment without crossing a line of it . . . . . . lol The offspring got very good at figuring out cockroach locomotion dynamics & where to apply that stuff for maximal effect, tho' I did the actual pouring . . . . . (As with any powdered substance, ya wanna take care to avoid inhaling. None of it -- flour, cocoa, or boric acid -- is good for the lungs . . . .) Um, usually I used a spoon, or a spatula, & did a delicate tap-tap-tap to be as precise as possible coating the tops of the baseboards. Stuck to small amounts, half a spoonful or less .. . . The stuff's a pain to clean & I try to avoid making messes in the first place so I don't have to clean. & I'd clean the stuff off & reapply when it stopped being powdery & started getting crusty, on the theory that it's less likely to stick to the bugs when they stroll thru the stuff . . .. That'll depend on humidity . . . Ummmm, boric acid is actually fairly innocuous as chemicals go. Dilute boric acid solution is used as an ocular wash in eye doctor settings . . . . (Don't eat it, tho, obviously . . . . ) But it is hell on roaches when used as Cecil advocates . .. . . (Oh, & it doesn't impact other life-forms, such as daddy longlegs & spiders, which I kinda like & encourage. They eat bugs . . . .*thumbs way up for bug-eating arachnids*)
