Status: offline 		i used to get very upset about what i believed was wrong usage of words, & wrong pronunciations, such as prevetative, instead of preventive...then i looked at how languages have evolved over milennia & realized that's all it is...but i still don't have to like it!!!

Status: offline 		I have my pet peeves, but I also recognize that, as you say, languages do evolve. I also think different standards apply to different media. Most of us are a lot freer in speech, say, than in formal writing.

Given that I sling words for a living, I do sometimes take wry amusement from the CM threads about language/grammar issues.
