It is very easy to loose weight: eat whatever you want, BUT only half of what you are used. That way you will(!) loose about 1 kg/2weeks! The message is don't stop it until you are used to it! That takes MINIMUM 3 months!
It is "just" a change of lifestyle!
Greetings

Hey all,

I second (or third, fourth...?) the vote for WeightWatchers. I was never one for meetings, but now that they have the online bit, you get support through forums and whatnot. But for me, the best part was having to admit to what I ate that day. When you keep a food log (like many others have mentioned) you have to actually face the reality of the food you consume. It also cuts down on snacking, because saying "a few handfuls of chips" isn't gonna cut it on the WW food log. Its the accountability, and the needing to be conscious of quantities of food, that helped me lose weight.

The other thing I've learned from years of dieting - the 11 day rule. Choose a plan. In general, if you can stick to it for 11 days straight, the rest is downhill. So while it may suck for the first 10 days.... push yourself through it. That first week and a half is when the most quitting happens.

Good luck to everyone trying to slim down!

Resurrecting a thread that's over a year old just to say something that many overweight people find very offensive - "It is very easy to loose [sic] weight [just do this]"?  Seriously?

There is no easy answer for long term weight loss and maintainence. I think its completely unrealistic to say, "Just do this ... Its easy!"

Icarys -> RE: Looking to lose some weight (9/22/2008 10:54:22 AM)

I make my own blue green algae drinks (has iodine which is good for the Thyroid) and eat a lot of protein ( About 50 grams a day is what's required but i ingest about 125) and take various vitamins each day to get the proper nutrition( as much as possible right now) that i can. I get my protein from fish and beans and also i eat a good amount of fiber rich  foods.

That, combined with a little excersise routine and i'll slowly lose the pounds. I think in order to properly support your diet and to see the best results, it's better to have proper nutrition in place so your body will work fluidly towards your goal.

No need to starve yourself or go on those crazy lose 10lbs in a day diets.

First..diets don't work. Forget them. Pay not attention to them whatsoever.

You have to change your entire lifestyle.

Calories in calories out.

Exercise, portion control, count calories....only eat the calories that you are suppposed to for your height, age and weight. This doesn't mean you need to starve. You can eat the saem foods you always have before but you just make tradeoffs and make the portions smaller...and always be conscious of when you are eating and why.

And one last point...stop the Dr Pepper! Drinking soda will not help you lose weight at all and most likely a huge culprit for your weight gain. Even diet soda is a hazard...just cut it out completely and drink water.

It takes self control and a willingness to really want and need to do this. If you're going to only do it when you feel like it then it's not going to work.

I do wish you the best of luck though.

Well, hopefully some time in the last year since the OP said she was drinking Dr. Pepper, she's either had some success or she cut it out completely.

www.fitday.com

this helps you track everything...calories in, calories out.  the nutrients, the fat, the fiber, the carbs.  it really helps to be cognizant of what you are eating and how active you are.  they've got charts that are very motivational becuase they show your progress, and others that show if your meeting your nutrient needs, it's quite interesting and informative.  give it a try, it's free.

I am in the same boat, though not as big as you are, yet I am wanting to get back down to my high school weight as well. I have found a very useful website, and it's completely free, that you might want to check out. I have been on the site for a few months now and it's very helpful. The site is www.fitday.com .

tweedydaddy -> RE: Looking to lose some weight (9/25/2008 2:53:44 PM)

I have lost about three stones in weight, some 42 pounds in a little over a year by taking capsules of Damiana herb, available at most health shops. Its a strong tonic and an aphrodisiac, and I have seen no side effects except for very mild hallicinations when I forgot myself and took three at once instead of spacing them out through the day. Check your blood pressure first though as it is a stimulant.
you'll get there!

Damn ... lol.... no profile.
Was gonna email on the other side.
I have struggled for 10 yrs.....
It's been easier these last 3 weeks
after my sister shared this site with me .....
http://www.idiot-proof-diet-handbook.com/
It will cost a few bucks but well worth it.

OP if you want the first 11 days as a sample,
write me on the other side.  I took off 7 lbs
and still counting.

The menu can vary every 11 days.
