KUDOS!
I have been a member of CM for almost 3 years.  I used to read the message boards, but was really to “shy” to post.  Also, I saw how many people get “blasted” for often little to no reason, other than to give others a chuckle.
That said, I began posting here about 7 months ago.

I want to give a big KUDOS to the regulars here among us that still have the guts {and I did say guts} to share personal information, still ask questions and START threads.**Especially in the TOPIC sections here**
I have noticed that there are many that enjoy posting, making fun of others, giving advice, etc, but RARELY or NEVER start a thread, share any worthwhile information about themselves or their lives.
It takes guts, strength and nerve for a “regular” poster to start a thread, knowing they are going to get real advice, made fun of, etc.

I enjoy seeing new threads started by those of us that are regulars here, it is just so much easier to sit and wait for someone to start sparks around here.

I have also seen many stop posting, because of the heckling, bad vibes or whatever they got.  I miss them, and wish they would begin posting again.  There is a male Dom that used to start all sorts of crazy threads, and he no longer posts here.  Maybe his posts were not everyone’s cup of tea, but I thought highly of him for having the balls to start interesting threads. I can also think of at least 10-15 people that no longer start any new posts, and I miss that.  I see many of their screen names around, but they no longer participate much, and definitely don't start new threads.

So much easier to sit back and be a judge, critic and a jury.
So much harder to open up, expose yourself and start a thread.
After being here a while now, I don't care if I like or ever agree with you, if you are willing to actually START new posts, I have a level of respect for you these days.  Anyone that has been here for a while, is going to find it sooooooooooooo much easier to always add your 2cents worth, then to stick your neck out--and start a new thread or topic/share personal information, etc.
Thanks again to the regulars that are STILL willing to START new threads.

Thats my point, so much easier to be a critic and a judge than to start anything
and stick YOUR neck out.
I like brave people like you and I.

I have started a few new threads but for me (and I realize that this is silly and self centered) the worry wasn’t getting heckled, flamed, or just plain criticized (that can happen to you for any post you make), but that few people would respond:

I must be so uninteresting. Oh the rejection
. Well, it’s obvious everyone here must be my intellectual inferior. Yeah, that’s it.

Still, I have to admit that I would like to once – just once! – start a thread that actually goes over three pages. I also have to admit to a bit a jealousy over those who’ve started threads that just seem to go on and on and on. So what’s the "CM Cruise" thread up to now, 25 million pages, give or take a hundred thousand?

Marc I used to feel like that, I don't give a damn any more, if I am the ONLY one that answers my own thread.
LOL
Be brave, start a freaking thread.

Ive started threads when I have had things worth starting one about. Most of the time, I dont have any burning questions that I want to throw out to general forums and get opinions on. I am not worried about being flamed, taken seriously or whatever. I dont really put that much stock into the comments that are made for nothing but snarkiness points. But, unless there is something I really want a vast array of infomration on, I prefer to have a conversation wiht a few people in private who I know know something about a subject rather than poll the community.

I would rather have a few serious responses then the pissing contests so many posts end up being. The silly threads seem to go forever but at least they are about being silly not something serious made into a farce.

Marc, I always wonder about why some threads prosper, and some don't as well. One thing that always befuddles me is my incredibly wonderful "And now.... the news" threads, sometimes only get 3 or 4 views. As politcal, and intellectually stimulating as so many of the CMers are here, that surprises me. But sometimes, when I take a specific news item out of the "And now...." thread, and give it it's own thread, it takes off. Sometimes lol.

And I'm not bitching about it, I just find it odd.

MzMia...i couldn't agree more with what you have said. I am relatively sure i'm not a very popular poster on the boards here, and honestly its fine...i enjoy the cross section of opinons expressed. I honestly appreicate that people take time out of their day to share what they know I do hate the mean responders they are few but consistant arent they?

That is one of my points DV, you don't have to ask a question to start a thread!
The MAJORITY of my posts are my thoughts or opinions on things, I RARELY ask for advice here.

However, I know that if I type one simple sentence such as: " I had pancakes for breakfast today."

At least 20 people will give me some damn advice.

That is one of the new things that amuses me here.
Start a thread, about any damn thing, then sit back.

Funny you mentioned this, MzMia, because I was thinking the very same thing today!

I don't post originals very often.  Mostly because I do make an attempt to be original when I do have something come to My mind.  If I hit a good idea about once a week, I figure that is a contribution.  CM is a community, and like any other community, it's not unreasonable to contribute.

Now, I'm not saying that I have always been the kindest, most gentle poster, but when it comes to My thoughts, I shoot straight from the hip.  My responses are like anything else on the net.  Take it or leave it.  <smiles>

i suppose its a toss of the coin, peole who discuss their personal lives on a forum sometimes come out ahead and just as often end up more confused than if they just capped it

Level, everyone knows it's not bacon that goes with pancakes...it's sausage!

That is what many here live for, and that is part of the fun.
Also, many here have there favorite "targets", and they only criticize them.
One person could say they are son of sam, they will ignore that.
If there target says "I ate an apple", they will jump on him like a dog with a bone.
Now you are in the game.
