Well I goto the ASDA (Walmart to those over the Pond) and its a hellish place during the evenings but a few weeks back i made an astounding discovery if i go 6am saturday morning...i can do shopping in under an hour get absolutely everything i need for the week and without screaming brats...nattering pensioners or arguing couples...........BLISS

That article makes me think of my dad. He used to grumble at mum for how much she spent on groceries, until she got sick and he had to do the shopping. He came back with a far greater appreciation for her budgeting skills. Not long before he passed away he wanted to have a mincemeat pie, so he went shopping for the ingredients. He changed his mind when he saw the price of a tub of mincemeat. I'm fairly sure he avoided the grocery store like the plague after that.

I hate grocery stores too. I mean one walks to the farmers market for fruit and vegetables, I go to two different bakeries, depending one what sort of bread I want, I get my fish from the fish stall, I get my herbs out of my garden, and my meat and cheese come from an import shop.

For a couple of years, Publix (the big chain down here) offered online shopping and next day delivery for $6.95! It was the greatest thing in the world. I didn't walk into a Publix for most of that time. One day, while I had an order pending mind you, they simply shut down the service with "sorry, it wasn't profitable". Maybe they didn't realize I (and most others I know) would have paid triple the service fee.. Yep. That was a very, very sad day for me.. . Btw, my dad did our grocery shopping for most of our lives and to this day has no problem going to the grocery store for me if I need a favor..

I've gone shopping for my mom numerous times, because she's busy enough as it is. She's already raising her nephew, so it's the least I can do to help out. Personally, I don't understand why anyone would have a problem shopping. You bring a list, buy what's on the list, use any coupons you might have, and if one or more items aren't there, find a suitable replacement for the time being. As for buying feminine products, it's obvious I'm not buying them for myself (no, I'm not into tampon training). Most of the time, any women who happen to be in that aisle at the time seem to find it humerous, though. shrugs Whatever floats their boat. -Einzelgänger

Talking about laundries... I use the Ganges method to wash my clothes, you know the river in India. I get some hot water, put the clothes and some Bio powder in a plastic bucket. When I can remember I grab the old fashiioned, we say dollys. a copper thingy with holes in on the end of a wooden pole. Give the clothes 50 / 60 hard presses with the copper thingy and bingo after about a week , nice clean undies or shirt. Never fails ! Domestic Chores? Piece of Piss. lol

If anything, it seems to be holding me back, much as it did when I got my second job. I can still remember the conversation in the service office like it happened five minutes ago... blurry wavy transition to black and white here Manager: "Ok, if you'll hand the technician (me) the keys, he'll take your car inside and he'll pull it around front for you as soon as he's done." Customer: "Are...you sure?" Me: "Sure, it's no problem, it'll only take me about 10 minutes." He hesitantly handed me the keys to his Z8 Roadster (and for good reason; he just handed a 16 year old male the keys to a $120,000 supercar), and as I walked out of the office, I heard him whisper, in a concerned voice to the service manager, "...I've got socks older than that boy!" laughs -Einzelgänger

As far as shopping... .. the last time I went shopping with Daddy was on Mother's Day. I went to pick out a card for my own mom, and I was reading them with a lady that was searching high and low for her own mom... I walked off with the wrong cart with this lady's purse in it... Daddy commented how he cannot take me anywhere[:D]. So I have been avoiding this thread, seeing as I have proven how clueless I can be the last time we went grocery shopping together.
