"Ultrasound screening may catch ovarian cancer early" Mon May 28, 12:33 PM ET " NEW YORK (Reuters Health) - A new study suggests that ovarian cancer screening with a technique called transvaginal ultrasonography (TVS) may catch ovarian cancer early, at a more curable stage. TVS involves using an ultrasound probe placed in the vagina to direct sound waves through the vaginal wall towards the ovaries to detect abnormalities. The new study shows that TVS screening is able to detect ovarian cancers at an earlier stage, perhaps increasing their chances of survival. The early diagnosis of ovarian cancer is difficult and the disease is often not detected until it has reached an advanced stage. It's really nothing new. I've been going through this for about 10 years to check my ovaries. Also, a CA 135 to see if my levels are changing. It really is a good thing. Just like mammograms. They suck getting them, but it's much better to catch it early.

True, the technique has been around for several years. I had the procedure done when showing symptoms of cysts on the ovaries. I was not embarrassed but the poor technician turned bright red when he handed me the dildo covered in latex! lol

I'm set to have that does in Oct; that's what happens when you are at higher rick for cancers of that sort. Unless I get pregnant first, then I would have to have it sooner. Its not any more evasive than the other medical procedures and biopsies I have had the last 2 or 3 years.
