Ooooooh Some Warren would be nice...."Excitable Boy"..."Then he raped her and killed her and he took her home....Excitable boy they all said."  After ten long years they let nim out of the home.....Then he dug up her grave and made a cage with her bones."

Miss Warren...He was a Letterman fav.

Edited to add:  Nice thread Level.

LOL
thanks Level. that was exactly what was needed. I don't think there's a single song on Fashion Nugget I don't love. Stop making me cry and laugh within moments of one another!

Excitable Boy was linked a page or so back I believe.

I always loved it when he sat in as bandleader for Paul Shaffer.

Ok Level...you've caught me in a weak moment. I admit it...I do adore you.

I believe that's been accomplished. Please reference my Warren Zevon post. Not too difficult when one has been awake for some 63 hours and counting. So let's not let that whole adoration thing go to our head shall we?

Zevon filling in for Shaffer

Did you see how Letterman got emotional on Zevon's last appearance? You can tell he had a torrent of emotions going on....

*cues the band to play "I'm  adored".........*

You would really like that book. Warren was so very sick by the time he went on Letterman the last time. He knew the end was very near. There was much debate about whether he would make it at all. He flew in 2 days early just to rest so that he could do the show. I think that once Letterman saw him he knew as well how short time was for him. He (Letterman) discusses it in the book.

Edited because it was Genius he was trying to finish not My Ride.

It does sound like something I'd like. Warren Zevon was brilliant, and for some reason, it always takes me aback to see how strongly he affected people. I saw a vid where he was hanging with Hunter Thompson, and Hunter was checking him out with his stethoscope; you could see the affection between them.

Only On Days That End In Y

Ahhh... just a couple that I remembered.
Memory lane, so sweet.

Wow, that is the photo they use in the book for Warren. He and Hunter Thompson with their arms around one another, smiling joyfully..Hunter has a stethoscope around his neck.  I believe it was taken only months before Thompson's suicide.

That was an awesome vid. Not only can you see the genuine affection for one another you can see the moment the photo in the book was captured. Thanks. That was great. I'm sure they're both up there in the ether, reunited and having a ball. So many of the greats have been lost recently. Warren, Hunter, Kurt. I miss them all.

you can return now to your regularly scheduled programming of Level's Jukebox.

Your Darcy did good . I enjoyed it.

Thanks, Level - glad you enjoyed it. I had fun making it (I actually put it together all in one evening, working for five hours straight :) )

Great thread, too - some classics on here, and some that I hadn't realised were classics, but am now appreciating!
