I think some of the over-seriousness (especially in direct e-mails) is due to the small audience. When hanging out in groups, people tend to lighten up, partly because it's more likely that someone listening will understand them well, but also because someone's more likely to disagree. In either case, being a little more casual about what you're saying is better suited to a group audience, and it's easier to get responses to a not-too-narrow contruibution than to an overly specific one.

And I just cracked myself up reading this. I can't believe I can sound so frickin' dry[:'(] I'm much more fun in person. Point is, it's easy to kick back here on the forums, not so much one-on-one unless you know the person.

Ok, i have noticed a theme, a lot of people on here seem to be very serious most of the time, not just about BDSM but about life generally. It seems like everyone is in a rush to exchange credentials ive dont yadda yadda and yadda yadda im an expert in this this and this and i dont do this, in the second message. Its all rather odd to me, and despite all the catagories of things that we can tick what ee are people ignore it all anyways and treat you in the way that they want you to be. Im just a bit confused, think it sould all lighten up slightly.

(Well, it just so happens I am an expert in this...and I don't do this {most of the time})
