This may be a very stupid question, and if so i apologize.
A mouth isn't a vagina. It doesn't stretch. The ability to open your mouth has to do with your temporo-mandibular joint (tmj) which will also have to do with how wide you can open it. The tmj is where your lower jaw connects to your skull.. Your upper jaw is immobile, only the lower jaw moves when we open our mouths. The anatomy that you have is all you're going to have. If you want to try and force your mouth open to a point of discomfort, you can and will do damage to your tmj which can cause all sorts of clicking and locking up of the joint.
That said, it sounds to me like this guy is trying to impress you with the size of his dick. So unless you've actually had it in your mouth, don't assume you cannot accomodate it based upon his 'measurements'. A six inch circumference looks about average.
And if you really can't open your mouth beyond something of a 5" circumference, you may already have tmj issues and should not force it. But I'd try him on for size (carefully) before fretting over it. Good luck. :)
