Grapefruit tends to mess with the metabolism of xanax . . So if you eat it then it could either speed it or slow the half life down...I found a good link on the net about drug tests I am sharing ....http://www.craigmedical.com/drug_test_faq.htm

One, it's going to depend on what they're testing for. Standard employment panels look for "the five" (NIDA-5) -- Cannabinoids, Cocaine, Amphetamines, Opiates and PCP. Expanded panels (Ten Screens) will look for benzos (the class where Alprazolam is located) among other things including barbituates, inhalants, methadone and alcohol.

UDS (urine drug screens) usually look at drug use within a week's time, unless the user is habitual. Hair tests that go to the DNA level detect positives two times more frequently than the UDS does, but, they don't generally detect use within a week's time. Blood is more accurate than both.

Forensically, benzos can be seen in the urine and blood within 2-7 hours of ingestion, and clear the body within 1-42 days. It really varies by metabolism and drug type and frequency of use. SSensitivity standard levels of BZO is 300 nanograms per ML, and they're looking for existance of the substance AND it's metabolite in trace levels in your system. And taken directly from the PDR, the following is true about the plasma concentration levels and metabolic half-life of the drug: "Plasma levels are proportionate to the dose given; over the dose range of 0.5 to 3.0 mg, peak levels of 8.0 to 37 ng/mL were observed. Using a specific assay methodology, the mean plasma elimination half-life of alprazolam has been found to be about 11.2 hours (range: 6.3-26.9 hours) in healthy adults."

Right. The key is that you had to TELL them ("disclosure"). Failing to tell them is equated with lying/deception -- not the thing to do with a pre-employment DS. If they find a positive (even if it's a script), the matter that you didn't tell them is worse than the positive itself.

I'll say that it's tremendously odd given the synthesis of the drug, that it came out a flat zero. Most of my patients that have received benzos as a result of rapid sequence intubation either pre-hospital or in the emergency department still have trace levels at 2 days -- and that dose is a relatively small amount to facilitate the placement of the endotracheal tube.

Pandora , I have seen a few that are on as much as 8 mg a day of alprazolam ( xanax) .. Isnt that a lil much ? Theese people walk around like zombies and sometimes they cant even recall seeing Me. Are they having total blackouts or something ? I once met a very nice sub and I later found out that she was abusing her prescribed meds .. Mainly her xanax.. She would sometimes just be so out there she didnt remember Me coming over .. I never played with her and told her to get some help and get off them.. She tried but wasnt succesful... I have heard that withdrawal from xanax is comparible to that of heroin. Very dangerous .. As seizures are a big risk when you cold turkey them .. So I am guessing that you would have to be weened off lil by lil ??? That would be the only way I see doing it safe .. Just My opinion ..

greetings

i take xanax now i lost a brother and had a nightmare of a brother in law who scare me silly i was just about to go off of them and all of this happen. i can not handle some of the things going on, my brother passed my niece came and took everything out of his place. when i was in greif i did not see it happening so i am deeply hurt and just ready to scream each night i feel so bad i have a lawyer now but i cry each night i mean each night. it was in may he passed she took his thing back east and gave them away like presents oh oh how ........ mean stole his car oh i am ready to cry .

but i will not ever let her know how much she has hurt my family. now what is going on bout xanax , oh yes the question was how long does it stay well it depend on how long you took it. now for the drug test keep a note from you doctor saying you were on it it is not an illegal drug. wait yes it is but it is alway a drug that is given out to people who like you and i have a hard time with aniexy which i could not leave my home with out i do not feel high i feel that i can go places do not worry if you took them before an it was not long ago just get a note from you doc i wish you luck . oh everyone i am sorry i just start with my brother thing sorry

I dont know where that info came from but yes xanax will indeed show up in urine....Its a benzo..
