Your insides (should be) soft and sensitive.  The flesh is easy to cut.  Men who do not get some sort of manicure will have long nails, and naturally, said nails have sharp corners.  In the heat of the moment, you may not notice his fingernails cutting like sharp plastic.  It could also be ripped skin, but that would be more blood.  See how long the soreness lasts, if it exceeds three full days, consider seeing a doc.

Yep, on the 1st of June with my SO, it kinda startled Him, He told me to make sure I was ok, I was {little bit of blood and some soreness, nbd}; I still called my doctor on Monday and asked her, she said it was 'normal' to have it occur at times, in my case, it was very likely to happen a few times since I had my surgery in July {I had 1/2 of my cervix removed and about 1/2 of the birthcanal removed, so the tissue is still kinda delicate}; I still went in and she said I was fine, just a bit of irritation, nothing that a bit of extra arousal or lube would not fix next time, she also suggested that he keep His nails trimmed, she looked at mine and said, 'I don't suggest you use your fingers;' {my nails are natural and long}. I have asked my SO to keep His nails trimmed, His nails are all but gone, but He has BIG hands, and with my 'virginal' tissue and insides, its bound to happen a few times.

No worries, just keep an eye out, if its too much or too sore after a day, go in, just to make sure. You can always put a cold water bottle between your legs to help with any discomfort, it works like a charm.

As others have said, it's quite normal. BUT it means that you have opened a route through which a number of STD's can pass into the body, so you need to be hyper scrupulous with hygiene until you are properly healed.

There are oodles of bacteria underneath our fingernails.  You could even pass herpes to you that way.  If the other person had it and had been handling himself and had them.
Perhap's you should suggest he wear gloves next time?  You re probably ok, just watch to be sure you don't start bleeding again.
If any cause for concern I'd go see and MD.

Yes, nails are the first to come to mind.............that has happened to me before...........I make sure a persons hands are clean and nails are trimmed/smooth before going "inside"............................also......................was the person too rough/vigourus?

Hope you are doing good now.

Also, if you're due to start your period like, any minute now, deep penetration can kind of "dislodge" the mucus plug that is there and cause a little "almost-menstrual" (my terminology, as opposed to "pre-menstrual") bleeding.  That's happened to me before.
