Just a curiosity directed at those who did define a submissive as 'someone receiving during scenes/play with', etc.  If that is the definition of a submissive, how in turn do you define a bottom/top dynamic?

One more, if no one minds.  I also notice that no one added into any of the definitions slave training, ettiquitte training (such as how to properly serve a meal), being brough up in a leather family, etc. to their definition of slave.  (Myself included, so this isn't a flame thing.)  Is there a reason no one included those types of things?  I'd like to hear opinions on those if anyone would like to share their thoughts.

I hope no one will consider this a hijack.  It seemed to follow through on the same topic.

ive said it before so forgive me if i am being repetitive. I truly dont see a great difference between the two terms. For me at least, it is all about whats in the heart, and a willingness to serve and to learn, with no expectations.

All i would ask for is dont damage me, emotionally or physically.

I will gladly respond to your question :)

I was not consciously thinking of those aspects of slave dynamics when I typed my response. As I reflect upon them upon reading your posts, I see the points you raise to be perhaps more common to slaves than submissives but not exclusive. That is, while Ms is fairly common in the leather culture, I also see Ms to exist out of leather. And while service etiquette and protocol are more common in the leather culture and Ms dynamics, I also see them to exist in Ds dynamics.

My two cents.

The primary difference between submissive and slave, is the fact that a slave is owned property of their Dom/me.  A submissive has rights to do and live separate or with their Dom/me.

Submissive is the feeling a slave feels.

Slave is either the character acting it out as a temporary fantasy roleplay, or a person meaning it for real and living the lifestyle fulltime.

I view myself as sub and not a slave. I do desire a long-term relationship with a Domme. I feel that a sub can ask questions about the request and a slave is to do the request without question. I feel that not knowing the Domme very well I might be concern about my safety and well-being.
Since I desire a long-term relationship with a Domme, we would get to know each other very well. I do feel that she would care a great deal for me. If she told me to do something, I would do it without question. Would that make me a slave to her?
As time went on, I have thought about becoming more of a slave to her than a sub. Even a Domme is not perfect and I do think that an order might need to be question. I do think that she would like to know what I think about something.
