I had a few mice growing up. Generally they were named based on either appearance or personality. I had Cuddles, Snookums, Muffin (she was fat), Daisy, Snowball (white mouse), and others.

I say wait until mouse has chosen a name for him (her?) self. I did the same for my goldfish. Unfortunately he picked the only name that suited him, "crazy-eyed like a drifter on the side of the highway that makes you lock your doors and speed up." I call him "hey, stupid" in private for brevity's sake.

I think it's perfectly appropriate to post in "ask a master". You are this pet's owner, caretaker, master, guardian...

If I had a mouse, I think I would give it an interesting, rare name. How does "Caspian" sound?

All I can think of is the Marien Corps usage: the smallest Marine in a platoon at Recruit Training is called the "House Mouse" and serves as the Senior Drill Instructors gofer and hooch cleaner.
